I was watching TV with my family, in our livingroom — someone mentioned getting a pizza delivered, and instantly, an ad for a local pizza shop popped up. We physically removed the microphone from the remote control after that. The media companies are listening to us, and if they are listening to us, so is the government.
I complained to my husband about not being able to find a certain brand of socks. Now I have ads on Facebook and elsewhere for the best socks on the market. Haha. I do not have the Facebook app on my phone. And yet Facebook hears what I am saying in my car and living room.
Have I ever downloaded Facebook to my phone? Yes. But I deleted it almost immediately.
