The article is what it is. She does not appear to be over the top. But if this is part of your action plans "The water action plan, Marcus said, aims to curb truly wasteful practices such as watering lawns to the extent that the water runs down the street. In addition, restaurant servers are prohibited from serving water to patrons without asking." then why AFTER SPENDING BILLIONS in the last few decades do you not have a plan for catching runoff. Why have you not created more reservoirs. why has there been no preemptive action taken.
Because water, like electricity, comes from “somewhere else.”
BUT conservation has to start with the govt and the richy rich....as long as the rich can have huge pools, spas, fountains, endless green lawns then no one else should have to suffer....
We had a bad drought when I lived in Georgia. Even though the drought ended years ago and I don’t even live there anymore I still do things like saving bath water in containers and using it to water my plants.
Problem solved by deporting their illegals.
Because funds were needed elsewhere? When I was still living in that sewer, San Fran was providing free sex change operations for city employees. That money has to come from somewhere. Plus, SF gave a cash stipend to drug addicts under the presumption addicts would not be forced to rob and steal to support their habit. Again, that money has to come from somewhere.
So, with those really, really crucial programs, there's just no money for unnecessary luxuries, like, water.
It drives me nuts when people water to the point of letting the runoff run down the street...or into the street. A block from where I live, someone has automated sprinklers, and every time they water their lawn, it creates a puddle four feet wide, that stretches across the entire street.
A gravel street.
You have to drive a block around it, otherwise your tires will track all sorts of mud and little rocks into your garage, which you have to clean out later.
Nobody’s lawn needs to be watered THAT much.
I’m not disagreeing with you however I’ll bet that Caly is also referring to normal folks who in the course of watering have runoff.
Two years ago, we moved to the boonies where we have to haul our own water. People have absolutely no concept how much water they consume. We didn’t. When we stay in a hotel, it’s a big luxury to let the shower run.
