Senate approves spending bill, averting government shutdown

With time running out, Congress on Friday easily approved a short-term spending bill that would prevent a partial federal government shutdown over the weekend.

But on President Trump’s 99th day in office, lawmakers were leaving the Capitol until next week without acting on two of the president’s other main priorities — a GOP health care overhaul and a budget financing government for the entire year.

The Senate sent the temporary spending measure to Trump by voice vote after the House approved it by a lopsided 382-30 vote.

The bill keeps the government functioning through next Friday, which leaders hope will give bipartisan bargainers enough time to finish a $1 trillion package financing government through Sept. 30, the end of the fiscal year.

The Republicans better wake up because the next election may will be the end of their so called revolution.

The liberals win when in power and they win when not in power.

Veto!

Given the circumstances I would not be at all opposed to that. What happens next Friday when they still can't agree?

Right, veto, we don’t need the Art of Government by continuing resolutions which have a way of increasing programs we hate.

Trump should announce to the media he is having a bill signing event. Have them all show up and then tare up bill and say into the camera: VETOED.

It’s been over a decade since we had a budget instead of a gargantuan spending machine.

So, if they can’t kick the can down the road, at least they nudge it a smidgen.

Kudos, congress, plain awesomeness.

Two options. Massive recess appointments or call Congress back into emergency session.

Keep kicking the can down the road, of course! One more week!

Ever since WWII, the republicans do only what the democrats tell them to do. I’ve watched them go on bended knee when ever the democrats disapprove of some bill the republicans want passed. Look what they’ve done..Put Paul Ryan in the position of House Speaker, a fellow who pretends he will go along with President Trump, then fiddles around with the bill. (When mamma democrat speaks Paul agrees) She doesn’t want nobama’s healthcare to die. so Paul fiddles with it.
