EXCLUSIVE: Advanced Talks Underway For New Conservative Network Amid Fears Fox News Moving Too Far Left (title)

On the heels of major shakeups at the Fox News Network, an alternative conservative network is being actively discussed amongst conservative fat cats.

A well-placed source close to the proposal tells Mediaite that serious discussions are underway to create an alternative conservative cable network on the belief that the Fox News Network is moving too far to the left. The source, who is engaged in the talks, says a meeting is planned for today with two prominent high-powered television executives, some underperforming conservative networks and people who have an interest and the ability to fund a new network.

The potential aim? Putting “the old band” back together. There are certainly plenty of (out-of-work?) conservative powerhouses to pick from that could star on a new network, and perhaps even some executives from within Fox News who might be lured by the new opportunity. Could the new channel include stars like the ousted Bill O’Reilly, who didn’t waste much time hitting the podcast waves after he was fired amid a sexual harassment scandal? Could Tomi Lahren, the conservative mega star, who was recently sidelined at The Blaze also take on a prominent role? The exact “who” won’t be clear until the deal is more defined but the source says the pitch is that the network could immediately reach at least 85 million homes.

This news comes on the heels of a long profile in last weekend’s New York Times which paints a picture of a changing Fox News Network with Murdoch’s sons, James and Lachlan, CEO and co-chairman of parent company 21st Century Fox, at the helm. The piece struck fear into the minds of some Fox News’ hardcore conservatives with talk of the sons wanting to rid the company “of the old-guard culture on which their father built his empire” and bringing “a warmer and fuzzier workplace” that would move away from an “anti-politically correct environment.”

On Thursday, New York Magazine‘s Gabe Sherman, a constant thorn in the side of Fox News, reported that “sweeping management changes” may be coming to the network as well. Sherman’s report cited three anonymous sources that contend that the network’s co-President Bill Shine recently asked the Murdoch sons to release a statement in support of him amid the roiling lawsuits and scandals. Both Fox News and 21 Century Fox have vigorously denied that Shine made such a request but the report by Sherman prompted a rather mysterious tweet about the “total end of the FNC as we know it” by the network’s biggest remaining star, Sean Hannity:

Gäbe i pray this is NOT true because if it is, that’s the total end of the FNC as we know it. Done. Best Sean https://t.co/W3BJ2wjzRD

— Sean Hannity (@seanhannity) April 27, 2017

It is no surprise that a savvy investor would see the turmoil within Fox News as a major opportunity. As The Times piece noted, analysts estimate that Fox News produced 25 percent of 21st Century Fox’s operating income last year or a whopping $6.6 billion. Conservative news remains a cash cow for investors, but the media landscape is quickly changing with younger viewers “cutting the chord” and turning to alternative over-the-top live streaming platforms like Hulu, Amazon, Roku and YouTube TV. Could a conservative alternative channel with some big names have an edge on the 20-year-old conservative network? Stay tuned. Our source is convinced it can happen.

That’s the way the market works. CNN should have become FNC but they were too married to the liberal ideology, allowing the “Fair and Balanced” approach to become dominant. Nowadays the cynical might say the market has rejected “fair and balanced” in favor of polar extremes that cater to those who want an echo-chamber for their own views and don’t want to hear anything from the other side. There is certainly a lot to suggest this would be a winning business stragegy.

What doesn’t make sense is for yet another cable news outlet to align with the Left, CNN and MSNBC already have that turf staked-out and there’s no reason for FNC to go there. I think if they do it will be at their own peril and this kind of disruption is often what allows a new entrant such as OAN or what is discussed here to emerge. After all that’s how FNC got started...

The problem is that the right doesn’t know how to create a brand to save their lives.

They will either give the network a cheesy name like “One America News”, Infowars, or “Glenn Beck TV”, fill it with too many sentimental stories instead of straight news, think that everyone in the audience is religious, put in too many commentary shows, err too much on the side of Alex Jones type presentations, put too many amateurs on-camera, or in Fox’s case, too many “hot girls” for eye candy.

Just look at European TV news openings. These are IDs and styles that make me think I’m getting a quality product.

I have no idea what the hell most of the people are saying, but I’d rather watch this.

And how about going back to some more basic news presenter styles like they had in the past?

Just as a business decision, moving Fox leftwards seems like a horrible idea. It would go from being one-of-a-kind to just one of the gaggle of leftist news sites.

We need a “balanced” network - these others should be sued by conservative employees who have been discriminated against.

No.

But I did notice that delusional overambitious Bimbo (Who was going to take trump down) Mememememegyn Kelly was abducted by aliens sometime in the last 4-6 months...

Ah, yes, yet another example of the genetic spawn of a hard-working visionary, totally screwing up decades of immense productivity and brand-creation. Welcome to life as just another bunch of idiot, spoiled rich kids, Murdoch children.

If you make Fox into another PC, warm & fuzzy place, 90% of its viewership (including, I guarantee, ME) will just up and leave. Fox will then become just another network, toeing the current PC line with a bunch of pablum spewing from some nameless empty suits/dresses. IOW, just a commodity news operation - and how do you make money in an overcrowded industry by offering merely more of the same, by NOT distinguishing your products/services? Clearly, these idiot Murdoch children haven't the first clue as to how to run their father's media empire. I can't wait for another network to start up - but I'd really hope that it could be on the regular cable menu. I suppose that they'd really have to have a lot of high-powered talent, both behind the scenes and on the tube, and that will take a lot of money and time to set up the right way. Here, BTW, is a big hint for any new network: Make sure that when the news is being reported, it is ACTUALLY the news. Opinion will certainly be welcome...but be very open and upfront about what is opinion at the time it is being presented. Something like a big bold stripe at the bottom of the page with "COMMENTARY" inside of it, the way networks did in the 1960s and 70s. As for Fox, I have NO use for it without it actually being a purveyor of facts - facts as they ARE, not as a bunch of intolerant assholes who don't value our nation or adhere to our ideals WANT them to be. If the Murdoch infants do this, let it all go down in flames.

Who? What? When? where?

What a concept!

Just make sure rap is banned in all forms, including commercials, and I'm all in...

Add any opinion or instructions on how to think, and I'm back all out...

I posted this on 4/19 on occasion of O’reilly’d firing:

Roger Ailes and Bill O’Reilly, et al, should round up their pals, partner up with every conservative TV advertiser, host, director, producer, news reader, announcer, cameraman/woman, etc. etc., and start a REAL Conservative TV News Network!

As for me, FOX News will NEVER be allowed in my home again!

BOYCOTT THE MURDOCKS, FOX NEWS AND EVERY COMPANY THAT PULLED ITS O’REILLY ADVERTISING!

IF WE REAL CONSERVATIVES WORK TOGETHER, WE CAN BANKRUPT THE MURDOCKS, FOX NEWS AND EVERY ONE OF THEIR PUSILLANIMOUS ADVERTISERS!

THIS IS WAR!

WHO WILL BE THE NEXT CONSERVATIVE TV HOST TO FALL VICTIM TO THE LIEBERAL ESTABLISHMENT’S ODORIFEROUS LIES AND ACCUSATIONS?

HANNITY?

TUCKER?

WATTERS?

WHO?

What’s wrong with contributing money to a conservative channel that, already, exists: One America News Network? Are they ignoring OAN?

I totally agree. But it would require a robot to prevent the writers or readers of the facts from introducing their personal incendiary adjectives and adverbs as "color."

I don't need no stinkin' color!

It’s not the names reading the news that attract viewers. It’s the honesty of the news coverage.

So it will be a “moderate” network, with Fox “left” and everyone else “far-left?”

How about creating MANY pro-conservative TV channels/other non-leftist TV channels, and doing so, everywhere in the entire world? The demand for non-leftist TV channels has been ongoing, for many decades and counting!
