I repeat...my analysis was nothing personal against the Kushners, nor was I posting about their advice to the President on any policies he might or might not implement, or whatever.

Since I was a professional political writer and an elected GOP official in my salad days and since political PR issues and flare-ups always catch my eye, I have addressed the unfolding Trump/Ivanka/Jared appointment issue strictly from the viewpoint of how I feel the situation is hurting my "hero" and how it will continue to hurt him very badly in the future. It's not going to die down.

However, the President may make some adjustment in the near future...at least I hope so. When he's getting flak from both sides of the political spectrum on this issue, i.e., from both his supporters and his enemies, it's not a good situation to be stuck in for four years.

Taking a step back to watch the Donald / Ivanka thing unfold.....it seems to me Donald is using her as a counterweight.

He does very conservative things on abortion....for instance.

Then Ivanka strides out and makes some drippy speech on (gag) women’s empowerment.

As Doughty One insightfully posted.....Ivanka is not elected to anything and she really doesn’t seem to be affecting policy.

Leni, I’m not sure if you are aware of it or not, but there were folks on this forum addressing Trump’s relationship to his daughter in the early days of the campaign. It was over the line.

That term you used, which you expected us to accept was not used to intimate something crass, was none the less something I wouldn’t have used in relationship to Trump, his daughter, and his son-in-law.

You seem to want Trump to avoid a bad situation. Then you used that term. Couldn’t you have thought better on that?

I voted for Trump because I trusted him. It has paid off. If he wants Ivanka and Jared to help him, I could care less.

If folks want to obsess over them, there’s nothing I can do about it other than realize how juvenile it is to join the Left to carp about Trump incessantly.

We asked him to do a job. It is irrefutable that he is doing it. That’s what I choose to focus on and celebrate.

Ivanka wanted funding for Planned Parenthood. Trump signed legislation that will allow states to defund it. Ivanka wanted us to support government global warming initiatives. Trump stopped funds from going to all such programs.

In addition on the issue of “Right to Life”, Trump ordered all funds given to international agencies that support abortion in some manner, to be halted.

Trump has gone beyond what I expected him to with right to life, both nationally and internationally. He has gone farther than I expected when it comes to pulling government funds out of government initiatives that support global warming remedies.

These are things Trump did that I have been told the Kushners are diametrically opposed to. None the less, we have people here acting as if he has been bowing to each of their dictates.

If the Kushners are ejected, everyone will move on to someone else they don’t like.

When people can’t be satisfied with many good things and choose to focus on a non problem, they won’t quite when that one non-problem is removed. They will move on to another non-problem, and another, and another...

If you can’t please some folks, you simply ignore them.

I’m not going to carry the Left’s water on this forum. The Left hates the Kushners as much as they hate the President. Why they hate them almost as much as people here do.

Who cares?

It was my understanding that there was no more important policy to folks than stopping abortion. Ivanka disagreed with us on that point.

The president did what we wanted anyway. This meant nothing to some folks here. It did to me. I was amazed at what he has done.

Others aren’t. They distrust this guy too much to appreciate anything he has done.

One person seemed to be speaking for many folks here a couple of days ago, when he referenced Trump, “...as a former Leftist, and probably still is.”

I equate trying to appease people like this to a dog chasing their tail. The dog seldom latches on to the tail, and if and when they do, they aren’t satisfied anyway.

So why bother going down that route. It won’t accomplish a thing.

People who want to be unhappy strongly enough, will find a way.
