“Senator Cruz introduced the Ensuring Lawful Collection of Hidden Assets to Provide Order (EL CHAPO) Act on Tuesday.”
As much as I hate acronyms - that’s pretty funny. From the article it said he is only charged with the crimes so far. I would think that any assets should only be taken after he is tried and convicted. Maybe push for an ELCHAPO TRIAL NOW Act so it can be this month rather than the months or years I’m guessing that it will take.
Ya gotta love the idea that the very name is trolling El Chapo.
How many witnesses, prosecutors and jurors will die during the pre-trial period?
Law agencies use asset forfeiture laws all the time prior to convictions, I read these articles here on FR all the time. But i guess since he is a Mexican and an actual drug dealer these laws don’t apply to him.
