The U.S. Treasury announced on Monday that it is putting into place 271 new sanctions in Syria following a chemical weapons attack on April 4 that killed dozens of people, including many children. Treasury said in a press release that the sanctions are “in response to the attack on innocent civilians in Khan Sheikhoun, Syria, by the regime of Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad,” calling the move one of the largest blocks of sanctions in the history of the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).

So, how long before some "so called" judge decides that this is unlawful and violates the constitution and issues an injunction? You know, undue hardship to syria and all. Obviously has nothing to do with it but that hasn't stopped them before.

Meanwhile, the Syrian al-Qaeda and other Islamist forces to which Obama, Hillary, McCain & their ilk provided funding, training & weapons remain unsanctioned and are readily resupplied through and by Islamist Turkey.

Is there anyone who the Saudis and Qataris haven’t bought & paid for?

This is a good move, but will not have the same impact as putting hard sanctions on North Korea. That country is in trouble already, and cutting off money to them will hit them hard.

Good move. Shut down as many of these Hell Holes as possible. The rest will eventually see the impact. Nothing can work if nothing is tried.

271 Sanctions. Can anyone tell me what any of those sanctions might be and why such a sanction would be considered effective in changing Assad’s mind on the use of chemical weapons? I haven’t heard or read any specifics. Have you?
