Staffers on Hillary Clinton's losing campaign struggled to come up with a coherent explanation for why the former first lady and secretary of state wanted to become president.
Some top aides, in turn, floated the idea of using "because it's her turn" as a campaign rallying cry, Jonathan Allen and Amie Parnes report in "Shattered: Inside Hillary Clinton's Doomed Campaign," a new book revealing the Clinton campaign's inner workings. The book details the competing egos and reported infighting among Clinton campaign staffers.
The candidate herself could not articulate vision for why she wanted to be president in calls and internal meetings with her staff, the book says.

Sure she could! She just didnt want to be on the record as saying she wanted it assuage her lust for power and greed for corruption.

I read a book about the Bush Sr. campaign for reelection in 1992, written by John Podhoretz, one of his speechwriters. Bush’s reelection staff gathered the speechwriters in a conference room at the WH to pick the campaign slogan - the only thing the could come up with was that he had been president for four years.
She coulda been a contender (or contenda) with that slogan.
I thought that had already been used by Bob Dole.
She holds the public in contempt, recall the 1990s when taxes shouldn’t be cut because the people are just gonna waste that money.
That was probably the magic bullet that would have turned the race around. She should be really upset her staff did not use it. *S
