Useful arts in 18th Century usage would be what we call engineering or city planning or architecture, Nye said.
Nyes used the argument before to underscore how unpatriotic it is to not have the federal government hand out billions of taxpayer dollars to universities, corporations and research institutions.
Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution says the government shall promote the progress of science and useful arts,' Nye told Vox in 2015 Vox didnt correct him or fact check his claim.
So if youre a politician looking to derail the progress of science, I think youre not doing your job, Nye said.
And, like last time, hes 100 percent incorrect.

He is a homosexual who only got a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
Why is a white lab coat?
it’s a costume, sort of like Halloween.
Did he get upset when obama directed NASA to make muslim outreach their #1 priority?
Umm, Article 1 Section 8 authorizes the grant of patents and copyrights. This guy is an idiot.
And he’s a comedian first and foremost.
That white lab coat is short-hand for “this is a serious, authentic doctor/scientist”. You see it all the time in infomercials shilling things like spurious diet pills, even hair care products. It’s to imply that the actor is doctor and her (it’s always a woman, in these infomercials) endorsement has the weight of science behind it.
Willie Nye, the Junk Science guy.
I would sooner listen to him on matters of Constitutional law than I would science.
Bill Nye, The Cowfart Guy, please go away.
Bill Nye the stupid guy.
Mechanical engineering and no peer reviewed published papers on climate.
In the age of fake news, he is fake scientist.
Shhhhh...don’t confuse him with the facts
I would be inclined to give him some slack for getting something so wrong if he weren’t such an arrogant know it all who condemns others of “ignorance” all the time.
Article I Section 8 grants Congress the power to: “To promote the progress of science and the useful arts, by securing for limited times to authors and
inventors the exclusive right to their respective writings and discoveries;”
Bill Nye. Why?
Now we need “Bill Nye with Beavis and Butthead, the answer to your every question.”
At the time of the adoption of the U.S. Constitution, scientists like Benjamin Franklin didn’t rely on any degree. Nor were there no professional licenses for engineering and architecture.
The reigning tomfoolery of AGW of that time was that clearing the land was changing the climate of North America. I believe among those holding this view was Dr. Franklin. Yes, the earth was warming up. Looking back, this was clearly natural variation, and recovery from the Little Ice Age. But, such is the arrogance of man, it was thought the warming up was due to us.
Bill Nye the homo guy.
actually, i’m with Nye on this one; i’m pretty sure there’s a clause in the U.S. Constitution that outlaws climate change.
