11 Ways Trump Has Rolled Back Government Regulations in His First 100 Days
The Daily Signal ^ | 04/23/2017 | Rachel del Guidice

Posted on 04/23/2017 3:10:08 PM PDT by ForYourChildren

As President Donald Trump reaches his 100th day in the White House on April 29, he will have worked with Congress to rescind more regulations using the Congressional Review Act than any other president.

“We’re excited about what we’re doing so far. We’ve done more than that’s ever been done in the history of Congress with the CRA,” Rep. Doug Collins, R-Ga., told The Daily Signal in an interview, referring to the law called the Congressional Review Act.

The Congressional Review Act, the tool Trump and lawmakers are using, allows Congress to repeal executive branch regulations. Once the House and Senate pass a joint resolution disapproving of a particular regulation, the president signs the measure.

..

1. Regulations governing the coal mining industry (H.J. Res 41).

..

2. Regulations defining streams in the coal industry (H.J. Res 38).

..

3. Regulations restricting firearms for disabled citizens (H.J. Res 40).

..

4. A rule governing the government contracting process (H.J. Res. 37).

This is all very very good. And I don’t in any way want to diminish the great work that Trump is doing regarding Deconstructing the Administrate State.

But then why turn around and create the largest regulative and unconstitutional act which by in itself creates its own economic structure with healthcare.

National Review writer David French says, “Obamacare is the leading edge of what called a “vast and bloated executive branch — existing through its alphabet soup of agencies such as the EPA, IRS, DOE, ATF, and the like.””

You won’t like the answer but here it is: there is no “free market”/simple repeal health care LAW that can get through congress. Too many people have lost policies under Obamacare, and now the public is conditioned to expect that some of those will be made up.

French (a neverTrumper, BTW) notwithstanding, IMHO the best way to reduce the scope of government’s role in health care is get something in place, then whittle, and whittle.

Although ultimately it did not achieve its objective of preventing a civil war, the Compromise of 1850 is a good example of how to do this: Henry Clay tried to get it all at once, satisfying everybody. But he could never get everyone on board. However, Stephen Douglas stepped in and found that he could get each part of the Compromise passed individually by picking off certain senators.

I think ultimately this has to be the approach. It’s much harder, and will take longer than if we had the votes-—but we don’t, and to keep pretending that the Senate will back a full repeal with people like Collins and Murkowski in there, well, it’s fantasy.

I remember the Wonder Bread ads that said, “Helps Build Strong Bodies 8 Ways!” Then, through the wonders of science and additives, it went up to, “Helps Build Strong Bodies 12 Ways!”

So, with “Tears Down Fegulations 11 Ways!”, this makes our President right up there with sliced-bread (and Wonder Bread, at that!).

“there is no “free market”/simple repeal health care LAW that can get through congress.”

Probably not.

Regardless, ..

Is your way of phrasing this as a “free market” issue a way of attempting to avoid the real issue - that being the legality or illegality regarding the constitutionality of federal government controlled healthcare?

Federal government controlled healthcare is ILLEGAL! It is TYRANNY!

This is not a “free market” issue.

State government controlled healthcare is legal. Then the discussion we can have is whether or not it should be implemented in a “free market” manner or not. Massachusetts Romneycare is an example.

When it was determined the federal government should have control over alcohol, an amendment was passed; and thus began prohibition. The legal federal government control over alcohol.

If it is such a good idea for the federal government to control healthcare, then pass the damn amendment. No amendment - no federal control!

But then I would like to trash him none-the-less.

You’re not dealing with reality. This has already been ruled constitutional by the USSC, twice, in different cases. No matter your opinion, that argument is gone.

Reality is, we will have some government involvement in health care. If you want to make it as little as possible, that’s still an option now. But if our side pretends that it can get a “full repeal,” then the likelihood is that what comes after will be much more intrusive.

Oh, and we already had government health care. It’s called Medicare and Medicaid.

Yea, that was the disclaimer, you knew something would be coming up.

I just can’t let go the healthcare issue!!! It so blatantly obvious. And all the distorted and twisted penumbra, and elitist sophistry just isn’t going to cut it.

I agree with you, but are you operating under the mistaken premise that nobody but you can see the problems with Ryancare?

Why is it folks think they have to bring it up on every stinking thread?

Very few people here think Ryancare should become law.

On a thread that champions Trump for doing good things, it isn’t necessary to trash the man too.

Start up a new health care thread. Trash his actions on that matter to your heart’s content.

I do not want Trump to get Ryancare pushed through.

Let’s say he does. In the overall scheme of things, has he done anything we wanted? Has he been a good president other than that?

I’m seeing plenty of folks who simply refuse to let the guy get any praise.

He signed a bill last week that gave states the right to defund Planned Parenthood if they want.

Not even that makes people happy.

What the heck?

“You’re not dealing with reality. This has already been ruled constitutional by the USSC, twice, in different cases. No matter your opinion, that argument is gone.”

Not true. Many times the Supreme Court has reversed itself.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_overruled_United_States_Supreme_Court_decisions

Also, maybe your reality is determined by what your elites tell you it is, but not me.

Examples:
“A Fetus is Not A Baby”
roe v. wade, 410 U.S. 113, 93 S. Ct.

“The Government Can Sterilize You in the Name of Eugenics”
Buck v. Bell (1927)

“You Can Imprison an Entire Race, if You Have a Good Reason”
Korematsu v. United States

“Oh, and we already had government health care. It’s called Medicare and Medicaid.”

Oh and I guess that all makes it ok and constitutional.

Can you point to the text in the Constitution or one of the Amendments that give this control to the Federal Government?

I can point to the text in the Constitution or one of the Amendments that gives control to the Federal Government over alcohol.

IMHO the best way to reduce the scope of government’s role in health care is get something in place, then whittle, and whittle.

I'm very reluctantly coming to this conclusion myself. It's not the ideal way, of course, but it may in reality be the only practical way to actually do it.

If both President Trump and the House Freedom Caucus can sign off on a bill to get the process of repealing/replacing Obamacare started, then I've decided I will defer to their collective judgement, and trust the President to see the process through to a satisfactory conclusion...

Ok, as I thought. You are not grounded at all in reality.

Glad you think anyone who disagrees with you is governed by “elites.”

Have a nice day.

Is your cognitive dissonance kicking in?

I know it is tough for some people.

Can you point to the amendment in the constitution which gives the federal government control over alcohol?

Not a hard one, very easy.

Next question, Can you point to the amendment in the constitution which gives the federal government control over alcohol?

I know a doc who is very much into “free market” health care. She has great ideas, but they would never get enacted as a package. They MIGHT get enacted, one at a time.

What I can point to and what is reality, are two different things. So good luck with that.

That’s how we got Social Security, was trying to fight “Constitutional” battles.

Now, please, we’re done. You’re not grounded in this world.

Sheeesh LS.

Real easy question and you won't answer. Is that because it will take you down the rabbit hole and into the truth?

What amendment gives the federal government legal authority and control over alcohol?

But Medicare stole people’s health money.

Reimburse all stolen dollars, plus 10% interest per annum.

Then REPEAL Obamacare.

Stolen differs from a transfer payment or welfare. Trumpcare is welfare. He risks his son Trump Jr’s Presidency.

Of course you cannot follow that logic since it deviates from you Soros Socialist nonsense. Big Socialism is never incrementally reduced. It is yanked.
Repeal now.

Keep repeating your nonsense. We will never buy it. EVER.
