It’s just a cease fire. There is no armistice, so the war is ongoing.

The fat boy will die. NK and SK will reunify. There will be no war.

I don’t think Putin gives two shifts about Korea. He cares about weakening/destroying America and would see supplying NK as a very good investment.

What a potential disaster of an area. All those country’s troops in that one little area.

It took YEARS to bang out a cease fire?

What a shame. I think I heard that not much ground was gained or lost by either side the last few years of fighting.

How the heck do you end up with a 60 year cease fire?

I just don’t see it. Russia dumping weapons at discount rates (well, free, plus some wheat shipments to make sure there’s some soldiers with enough energy to actually unload the ships) on North Korea would enrage China to no end.

If Russia actually wanted to weaken the US, more arms shipments to Iran and Syria would certainly fit the bill. Or hell, just make a major endowment to the Southern Poverty Law Center; feed the US’s 5th column and they’d happily make US cities burn throughout the summer.

Huh. Reminds me, wonder why there’s never a report on the environmental impact of rioting?

“China has no fear of a united Korea.”

...as long as it is their unified Korea - a communist dictatorship and Chinese vassal.

A pro-US unified Korea with domestic political freedom would be a terrible example that could inspire their own population to get all uppity, and aspire to freedom themselves.

Also, North and South Korea have the fourth and fifth biggest Armies on Earth - a non-trivial force sharing a long border with them.

China has had an aggressive program of trying to lock up natural resource supplies - it relies on North Korean supplies of several mined commodities, like iron tungsten and coal. North Korea also has large deposits of rare earth metals, for which the Chinese went to great lengths to lock up the market.

Also, China has made a lot of diplomatic hay doing a Good Cop/Bad Cop routine, with North Korea playing the crazy attack dog for them. They would hate to lose that leverage.

If the files got out about what China actually did and does in North Korea (like proliferating nukes to and through N. Korea), they would be liable for sweeping sanctions.

North Korea is Communist China’s single closest and most reliable ally - arguably its only such ally in the world.

China probably did that in a parallel dimension you were in previously. Lol. About 8 years ago, I shocked some young Californians. Asked them what was this 420 they were talking about. Had never heard of it before. They looked at me like I was from some other planet. Lol. Anyway, I frequently check maps to see what has changed. Hey, wait a minute. Where is Tibet ?

“The fat boy will die. NK and SK will reunify. There will be no war.”

How did you come up with that? Or are you just an optimist?

It’s definitely a better prediction than: “NK tests another nuke. In turn, the US responds by striking NK nuke sites, leading to war. Other nations get involved, starting WW3. Domestically, the 5th column in the US uses the war as an excuse to incite all the different flavors of SJW’s into armed rebellion, leading to CW2. The very wealthy and many politicians flee the US, seeking refuge from the groups out to get them, and the clouds of nuclear radiation circling the northern hemisphere, by heading to their previously acquired bug-out mansions in New Zealand and South America. Mexico ‘officially’ invades the southwest portion of the country, rallying the millions of illegals to help fight to ‘reclaim’ Aztlán.....”

I like your prediction far better, lol.

seriously? You just can't see why Russia would want to arm someone we are at war with? Does "the enemy of my enemy is my fiend" not sound familiar to you? Do you remember there little war in Afghanistan? Or the Iraq-Iran war? Vietnam? This is cold war 101 stuff here. If we end up in a ground war with North Korea, there's no way in hell that Russia won't try to make us bleed. There's no way in hell that they won't use that conflict to weaken our global position and strengthen there own.

And China has their own ambitions and those ambitions are not completely compatible with our ambitions.

So America needs to establish who exactly her allies are and aren't because it isn't 100% clear with regard to the superpowers. The post WW2 paradigm is shifting. The global situation has changed and it is not as favorable to the USA as it was a few decades ago.

The best thing we could do would be to kick the shit out of NK and Iran at the same time with no help from anyone. That would be glorious. That would reestablish our supremacy in the world but the aforementioned players would move heaven and earth to see to it that that doesn't happen which makes that kind of unilateral action exceptionally dangerous.

If we attack either of these countries, we should fully expect a WW3 level event IMO and we should approach it with that in mind.

It’s near Vladivostok.
I didn’t realize that Russia had a common border with North Korea.

Russia wants to defend its border against the fallout from a war by the US against Korea
Such as a rush of civilians and defectors and deserters trying to get out or the little madman even striking out at Vladivostok to widen the conflict

China has already moved to make sure none enter their territory setting up for a slaughter by North Korea of its own people trying to escape and penned at the borders

Sounds like another reason to sanction Russia
/ Sarc

Notice that “ Putin sends troops” but “ China also, sends 150,000”
Shouldn't that be “ China and Russia reinforce borders “
Or “ Xi sends troops, Russia also boosts border troops”

Russia shares a 15 mile border with North Korea with one bridge. It may be a railroad track that goes with it.

I wonder if there are any Ruskies living in their sides of the area.

15 miles will require a lot less soldiers to prevent a stampede than hundreds of miles would.

I guess the Chinese have their work cut out for them. I’m just assuming China’s border with NK is much longer.
