Looks like a really desolate place!

But, GoogleEarth® has Streetveiw in operation there!

In January we sold a home gym to a couple in their twenties who were from Vladivostok which is Russia’s largest port on the Pacific Ocean and home to their Pacific fleet. It is about 60 miles from Russia’s border with North Korea.

We were going through a cold spell here. We asked them how they liked it here and they said they loved how warm it was this time of the year. We were dressed up in coats, hats and gloves. They were outside with no coats or hats and looked perfectly comfortable.

My wife’s father was an army veteran of WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. He hated Korea the most. He was badly wounded and listed as missing in action for a couple of months. The family thought that he was dead, but he was actually in a coma and somehow misidentified.

The sniper took out 4 ISIS terrorists. And he did it from a mile away.

I doubt he had one of these either. Never miss Rifle.

I had a similar weather experience in Disneyworld once.

I was attending a conference in Anaheim and one evening the park was opened for the attendees (it was closed for the ‘cold’ season).

It was warm enough for shirtsleeves (for a Hoosier boy) but the poor kids running the controls for the rides were bundled up like Arctic explorers; shivering and complaining ‘bout the cold!

Putin has the same concerns we do. He doesn’t need millions of poverty stricken, uneducated refugees streaming over his southern border looking for assistance.

I think the SK were examining the cost to reunite the two German halves and realize this is going to like swallowing a third world country. Look for a long period under SC military governors before any political integration takes place. The swarm of refugees into SK would be enormous as well.

MSF BU: “I think ...”

Have you talked to any South Koreans? I have. They are a responsible and honorable people. They want to reunite because it is what they should do. They also see opportunity and resolution.

Oh, and things are sure economically sucking in Germany.

I never seen mention just how many Chinese troops are in North Korea at the moment. Have you seen numbers?

I’ve talked to younger South Koreans who expressed the exact opposite. They think reunification will be bad for them, and stated “it’s been decades. We don’t really know those people anymore.” I think they are worried about an influx of welfare cases, much like a lot of West Germans felt about the prospect of reunification. Pretty selfish imo.

Having read dozens of articles over the last few decades on the subject, the cost of reuniting and also the political considerations are always cited as major factors. Having been stationed there and also having friends back in ROK, the lessons of the reunification of Germany are not ignored. My guess is that it would find much of North Korea under military governorship while the population is modernized. Also, they should be very careful about allowing millions of new former communist voters to share the franchise.
