Plus pre-existing coverage and no cap on payouts and all the other parts of Obamacare that have sent premiums skyrocketing. So what is this new version of Ryancare/Trumpcare supposed to accomplish?

“Some Republican leaders” are still wrongly ignoring that the states have never expressly constutitonally delegated to the feds the specific power to regulate, tax and spend in the name of INTRAstate healthcare.

The very least these Republicans should be doing is front-ending their proposed Obamacare “repeal” with a proposed RINOcare amendment to the Constitution to the states for ratification.

Remember in November ‘18 !

” keep two provisions — essential health benefits and community rating — favored by moderate GOP lawmakers but allow states to waive these protections. In order to waive the protections, states would have to fulfill two provisions: prove that the waiver would bring down costs and either join a federal high-risk pool or establish their own. “

Sounds like a start. Allows for states to experiment.
RINOS will probably kill it.

Repeal:
1.revoke or annul (a law or congressional act):

There is no repeal here.
It’s another rearrange and repair of Obamacare.

Crap sandwich with a garnish, instead of just the crap sandwich.

Where are the Congressmen criss-crossing the country to explain the benefits of health care deregulation? What about infomercials? No? Oh yeah I forgot, the GOPe wants the feds firmly in control of healthcare. Some even want single payer.

I believe it gives states the option to waive some of these things like community rating and essential benefits coverage.

Before blaming everything on the inaction of Republicans in Congress, consider these facts: FDR had the trifecta during his entire term. LBJ had the trifecta during his entire term. The last time before George W. that Republicans had the trifecta was during Dwight Eisenhower’s presidency (and even that was only for a brief 2-year period). Add to that the fact that we haven’t had a true constitutionalist president since Calvin Coolidge. I agree that Republicans have been a do-nothing bunch, but that’s only been a good excuse since 1995.

I believe it gives states the option to waive some of these things like community rating and essential benefits coverage.

It does not allow them to waive pre-existing conditions unless the state establishes a high-risk pool or joins a yet-to-be established federal pool. It does not cap insurance company liability. It still limits how much more companies can charge elderly policyholders. Those are the three primary reasons why rates have sky-rocketed. The administration has been claiming that their plan will provide better coverage, cheaper coverage, more people covered, and more providers to choose from. This plan won't do that.

It basically gives states the right to opt-out of provisions they don’t like. Blue states can stay in while red states can experiment with market solutions.
