President Donald Trump on Friday picked former Republican Congressman Scott Garrett of Wantage to lead the U.S. Export-Import Bank, an institution Garrett has spoken out against.
Garrett, who represented New Jersey's 5th District for seven terms, was defeated in November by Democrat Josh Gottheimer.
During his time in Congress, at a town hall in Lafayette in May 2015, Garrett said he would favor doing away with the Export-Import Bank, which makes loans to companies doing business overseas. And at a congressional hearing in 2014, he said, "when you mix big corporations and taxpayer-backed guarantees, you get a little something that looks an awful like crony capitalism."
The nomination caught the eye of Rep. Bill Pascrell, D-Paterson, who isnt convinced Garrett would keep the institution in its current format. Pascrell says Garretts nomination could be reflective of the administrations overall goal.

The most conservative politician my state has ever seen, IMHO.
This means Breitbart was way wrong.
President Trump has a very, very smart strategy.
There are many aspects of government protected by vested interests, who will defend them in congress, and likely succeed.
So since he cannot defeat them directly, as it would cost far too many resources and time, he appoints their harshest critics to them, to gut them from within.
Several of his agency heads have been chosen for just this purpose, and are succeeding where other reformers have failed.
Or was that the head-fake, rope-a-dope.
