Alabama governor changes election for US Senate seat

MONTGOMERY, Ala. –  Alabama's new governor has moved up the election for the Senate seat left vacant by U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions to this summer, reversing former Gov. Robert Bentley's plan to wait until 2018. Gov. Kay Ivey announced Tuesday she was calling a special election.

The new schedule sets the primary Aug. 15 with a runoff Sept. 26. The general election will be Dec. 12. Ivey says the law "clearly states the people should vote for a replacement U.S. Senator as soon as possible."

No harm, no foul.

Best to get the Democrats to waste their treasury in the short run rather than wait for 2018. The more defeats they take in the short run, the less their brand appeals over the long run.

I think that will depend on who’s actually running. If they can elect a Sessions look alike, fine, but if it’s a Haley Barbour look alike, I’d say pass. The Senate already has a full compliment of useless a$$holes.

Yeah, look at the RINO feeding frenzy over in GA 6 today. the Repubican Party is the party of me, me me, all I worry about is me!
