This morning, the Guardian ran an article about Sergio Garcia's win at the Masters and his "sportsmanship." The article was apropos for this discussion. The Guardian article discussed the difference between "sportsmanship" and "gamesmanship". Sergio played the game and in his win was magnanimous with his praise for Justin Rose, the runner up.

The dems show no such sportsmanship, win or lose. They, however, portray the epitome of gamesmanship, a win at all cost mentality and using whatever tactics and strategy needed to win. And, when they lose, they will blame their loss on anything or anyone other than themselves.

It’s easy to be a magnanimous “sportsman” when you win. For years, we he was busy blowing majors, Garcia blamed everybody and everything but himself for his losses. The true test of sportsmanship is how you behave when you lose.
