Prayers up for his family.
Sad news. RIP.
Hi Kathy - Happy Easter to you and your family. I am so sorry that I have not written you in a while. For a long time there were no big updates on my Dad, but unfortunately tonight I am writing you with a sad, sorrowful one.
Dad passed away last night after his long, hard-fought two and a half year struggle. We are deeply saddened by his loss, but we know in our hearts he is at peace with our Lord. He was admitted to the ICU with pneumonia late Wednesday, and upon x-rays and examination the doctors found that he was also suffering from other conditions that were simply too much for him to recover from. Mom and I were able to be with him all day yesterday up through his passing, and he was showered with enormous amounts of love throughout the day by his sisters, brothers in law, cousins, pastor, and more. I am intensely proud of how hard he fought but so very sad that he did not get to enjoy his retirement more. He loved - I mean REALLY LOVED - his FReepers and we talked about you all constantly to him. Dad received so many cards, photos, well wishes, prayers, and hope from you all, and from the bottom of our hearts - Thank You. You made him feel that he was constantly thought about, that he had not been forgotten, and that he was deeply loved and cared for. You all have made an enormous difference in our lives.
There will be a military service for Dad at a later date this summer at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX, where we will inter his ashes. My grandfather (on my Mom's side) passed a couple of weeks ago as well, and the next month or two is going to be filled with taking care of business for both of them. When we have the service scheduled, I will send an update about that too.
Thank you all for sticking with us throughout a time of such struggle in our lives. Go with God this Easter, and please give our deepest thanks to the FReeper community. Lots of love and appreciation to you, from us.
See you at the big formation, Arrowhead1952
I’ll bring the coffee.
Rest in peace.
Such sad news.
Rest in Peace, John. You fought a valiant fight.
My prayers are with his loved ones at this time of deep loss.
Prayers for the family.
Now, home with his Lord.
RIP.
Rest In Peace, Arrowhead1952. Prayers to his family.
Prayers up. May he Rest In Peace.
OMG! Crying here.
Miss you John.
Prayers for his family.
RIP, Arrowhead1952. I have enjoyed our interactions over the years. Thank you for your service. My condolences to your family and friends.
Very sad news. RIP, FRiend, and thank you for your service. My prayers for his soul and for comfort of his family.
My screen got blurry all of a sudden seeing this and reading Lisa’a note.
John was a wonderful Freeper and patriot.
Men like him are rare and we were fortunate to number him among us.
Now he is in the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ, as his faith became sight on Saturday.
How appropriate that he celebrated Easter in the presence of his Savior!
Death, where is thy sting? Oh grave, where is your victory?
Someday, a wonderful reunion awaits those who believe in the redemptive work of Jesus on the cross, as John did.
May God grant strength and blessing of peace on his wife, and his daughter and extended family at this time.
John, thank you for your love for America, for Free Republic, and for the inspiration you are to all of us, as you faced your final challenge.
We will miss you terribly, but we are comforted in the knowledge that you have now been made whole, moreso than when you were here on the earth.
Rest in Peace
At least he lived to see an American in the White House.
For the peace from above to his family. God Bless John!!
God Rest his soul. He is having now, a glorious reunion with all of his Christian ancestors.
Lord Jesus Christ, rest Thy servant John with the saints and comfort his family.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, amen.
