McFarland 'no comment' on reports US sabotaged North Korea missile launch, calls launch a 'fizzle'
Deputy National Security Adviser K.T. McFarland on Sunday declined to say whether the U.S. cyber-sabotaged North Koreas failed missile launch, saying only that it was a fizzle.
You know we cant talk about secret intelligence and things that might have been done, covert operations, McFarland told Fox News Sunday. I really have no comment.
Still, McFarland, a former Fox News contributor, said the failed non-nuclear missile test Sunday by the rogue nation was one of about 30 failed attempts and that cyberwar is now a big part of the geo-political landscape.
I do think we are entering a whole new era, not just with North Korea but with everybody, she said, amid speculation the U.S. foiled the launch with a cyber-attack.
With any country, major country, we are entering a cyber platform, a cyber battlefield. That is where a lot of the wars of the future are going to be fought.

P!
Has Senaturd Linda Graham called for McFarland to be subpoenaed yet?
Anything to get the libs off Russia stealing the election for Trump.
It actually angers me that our media wonks try to out a clandestine program that shouldn’t even be discussed, let alone the particulars disclosed.
Whether we did that or we didn’t, that was the right answer.
Against the Norks? FANTASTIC..!
Against candidates and the American people? Sheer hell.
You know we cant talk about secret intelligence and things that might have been done, covert operations, McFarland told Fox News Sunday. I really have no comment.
... it was hard to miss the twinkle in her eye and the ever so slight smile forming on her lips. If I saw that you can be certain that the North Koreans will have as well.
If it was Obama there would already me a made-for-TV movie about how Obama personally developed an anti-missile technology to take out the missiles.
Bingo.....
The missile launched from the test site at the Sinpo sub base. All of the missiles from there have been solid fuel. Launch failed at about 5 seconds after lift off.
The NORKs are oddly dimwitted here, launching from a coastal port that would be so easy to surveil......
Early reports that the missile was longer than their KN-08 or KN-14 ICBMs.
The 040417 launch was likely a Hwasong 6, SCUD variant, liquid fuel.
So the NORKs are launching all kinds of missiles.
Future launches may likely have the same type of fizzle...... Wink, wink...
I can’t get the vid to play without hanging up. But, just from the wording of McFarland’s answer, we either did do something, or, perhaps, we just want the Norks to believe we did something (and they can go crazy trying to figure it out and prevent it next time.)
Shhhh dont tell the NORKs. DARPA gave Trump a telekinetic boom stick. He points it at what he wants to go boom on satellite imagery and it goes boom. Those DARPA guys are awesome. Heck when Gore worked for them he invented the INTERNET.
I am having the same impression. Tomahawk barrage in Syria, MOAB drop in Afghanistan, and maybe this is the third in the series. This will drive Kim Jong-un crazy.
Pssst. Dont tell the NORKS. MOP and MOAB production restarted and ramped up over a 2000%.
Those “fizzles” are a good way to test our missile defense systems.
“This will drive Kim Jong-un crazy.”
Drive? More like a very short putt.
Some unknown Brit stated it is his opinion that the US hacked and blew up the missile. So somebody’s OPINION commands the news cycle? What are the odds of that vs a faulty component?
