China, Russia send ships after U.S. aircraft carrier

China and Russia have dispatched intelligence-gathering vessels from their navies to chase the USS Carl Vinson nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, which is heading toward waters near the Korean Peninsula, multiple sources of the Japanese government revealed to The Yomiuri Shimbun.

It appears that both countries aim to probe the movements of the United States, which is showing a stance of not excluding military action against North Korea. The Self-Defense Forces are strengthening warning and surveillance activities in the waters and airspace around the area, according to the sources.

The aircraft carrier strike group, composed of the Carl Vinson at its core with guided-missile destroyers and other vessels, is understood to be around the East China Sea and heading north toward waters near the Korean Peninsula.

China and Russia, which prioritize stability in the Korean Peninsula, showed concern over the tough U.S. stance, with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov saying the issue should be resolved peacefully through political and diplomatic efforts.

The dispatch of the intelligence-gathering vessels appears to be partly aimed at sending a warning signal to the United States.

Japanese Maritime Self Defense Force. Since Japan doesn’t have an army or navy (snicker). It’s bigger than the British navy (but not by much).

Since when? They can start the political and diplomatic efforts any time they like. We're certainly not holding them back. Never have!

This has been an ongoing problem for two decades now, and neither of these nations have stood up and told North Korea to knock it off.

Beat you to it by 30 seconds. I'm pretty sure that the US subs have a firing solution already set with tubes ready to go.

Seaman Jones: Captain, we're cavitating, he can hear us!

Capt. Bart Mancuso: Conn, aye. All right, Ryan, we just unzipped our fly. Mr. Thompson! Open the outer doors, firing point procedures. Now if that bastard so much as twitches, I'm going to blow him straight to Mars.

Seems to me the AP, WP, NYT, LAT, and WSJ are all pretty much pushing for a nuclear confrontation.

I don’t trust their reporting much.

They seem to post thing in the most incendiary of ways they can think up.

Nothing Unusual here. They always shadowed us during the cold war.

Sheeeeeet - no kidding- we'd have Bear reconnaissance aircraft, Backfire bombers, every broken Soviet can out there chasing us around for 2 weeks - these freaking pearl clutchers really make me laugh. LOL

I was a Marine on a troop transport of some sort off the coast of California during an exercise. We were bored so we were hanging out on the fantail watching a soviet intelligence ship who was following us. All of the sudden the Soviet ship accelerated and took a hard starboard right through our formation. The sailors were going ape shit. And if that was not enough the Soviet flipped a you turn and shoot through our formation from the port side. We found it entertaining.

So much of the recent issues with Russia are a creation of the media and the democrats. I guess they need a bad guy. It certainly wouldn’t be PC for the bad guy to be muslims so they make the Russians the bad guy.
