A computer bug in France’s electoral roll has meant some half a million voters could in theory cast two ballots. And some are tempted.

With the first round of the presidential election just over a week away (April 23rd) French voters around the country have been receiving their ballot cards through the post as usual.

But many have received two — in fact, some half a million voters could cast two ballots thanks to the bug, according to authorities.

The duplicate voting cards were sent out mainly in the cases where people have moved homes since the last time they voted. […]

… [T]he electoral roll bug has not just resulted in duplicate ballot cards. It’s also apparently resulted in some foreigners, who normally wouldn’t have the right to vote, being send a voting card. …

There is no evidence of vote fraud, so there is no reason to look for vote fraud.
- Typical liberal

We should always look for vote fraud. If any is found, the guilty party should spend several years in prison and then lose voting rights forever.
- Typical decent person

But many have received two — in fact, some half a million voters could cast two ballots thanks to the bug, according to authorities.

It it is difficult to believe that this could have happened without some workers involved with taking the printed ballots and mailing them not knowing that something was amiss. People working in most any job will notice if their workload doubles compared to past similar events.

A half million extra ballots sent out, but no one noticed as it happened? Maybe some did notice, but no one in authority did anything about it.

Is it just a wonder that these kind of glitches without exception always favor the leftist? I mean what are the odds?

499,999 of them will vote twice. These ballots were sent to people expected to vote overwhelming for the establishment candidate. The fraud is more open than that here in the USA. That is the sort of thing that happens in the Third World and France has been transforming itself into a Third World country pretty assiduously.

Seems rather obvious that the “Election Authorities” want to cheat, not solve the problem. But in case they really are that dumb, here’s the solution: quarantine the ballots returned from these addresses; log them into a database created from the same database used to send the ballots; count only those that can be verified as being from a legitimate voter, with only one per such voter. Returnez deux, get prosecuted.

If the ballots come in for the left candidate, it will be determined that they had no effect. If they come in for le Pen the whole election will be invalidated. A win-win.
