North Korea’s Embarrassing Missile Launch Failure May Have Been Caused By US cyber Attack

Former foreign secretary Malcolm Rifkind claims American intelligence has foiled similar nuke tests

THE US may have sabotaged Kim Jong-un’s missile test yesterday through a cyber-attack causing the rocket to spectacularly flop, according to a former British foreign secretary.

Sir Malcolm Rifkind claims American intelligence has used cyber warfare to successfully foil missile tests before and that there is a “strong belief” that President Trump’s administration was behind North Korea’s latest failed launch.

Sir Malcolm Rifkind claims the US could have sabotaged North Korea failed missile launch

Speaking with the BBC, he said: “It could have failed because the system is not competent enough to make it work, but there is a very strong belief that the US through cyber methods has been successful on several occasions in interrupting these sorts of tests and making them fail.”

Maybe it has one of those miniaturized on-board nuclear reactors... Just kidding.

Don't get me started on that!

I'm just kidding too.

Do not know how they deal with that on ships or subs, but assume they also use the nearby water.

They do exactly that, through what are (IIRC) called "inductions," pipes through which seawater is drawn inboard for purposes of cooling.

That's why Russia's nuclear-powered icebreakers can't leave the arctic zone. They were designed for operation in very cold water, and their condensers were sized appropriately for that assumption.

If they go into more temperate waters, their power plants will shut down.

It is my recollection that a failed weld or silver-soldered joint on a seawater induction is what caused the loss of the US submarine Thresher back in 1963.

Obviously, on a submarine, any pipe that brings in seawater at ambient pressure is a very, very delicate and tricky thing. Zero margin for error, especially when operating deep.

If every North Korean Launch fails from now on—it was America behind the failure. Might be the case. But I don’t think we will need to worry about this for much longer—I think the little fat man will be pushing up daisies soon. North Korea will give up its Nukes and Rockets in exchange for help—food and trade. We can but wish—No one wants a war in Korea—if it comes, we must go in to win it—and unify Korea—North and South. That’s why China will NOT let Korea be a problem for much longer. Its not in their best interests.

Doesn’t matter if we did or didn’t.

All that matters is the number of People who believe we might have or that we have the capability.

The only hack proof defense systems must have the processors built from ground up. They would need to build their own Microsoft, Android or Apple sofware. A small nation does not have those resources.

But the security holes could be somewhat plugged up.

Later processors have override architecture accessible by the US Govt.

It’s just a simple problem of getting over the air gap, which seems to be inevitable to achieve.

Actually, the USA needn’t take any credit for NORK missle failure. They are quite capable of screwing it up all by themselves.
