KABUL, Afghanistan — The number of militants killed in an attack by the largest non-nuclear weapon ever used in combat by the U.S. military has risen to 94, an Afghan official said Saturday.
Ataullah Khogyani, spokesman for the provincial governor in Nangarhar, said the number of Islamic State group dead was up from the 36 reported a day earlier. A Ministry of Defense official had said Friday the number of dead could rise as officials assessed the bomb site in Achin district.
“Fortunately there is no report of civilians being killed in the attack,” Khogyani said.
The U.S. attack on a tunnel complex in remote eastern Nangarhar province near the Pakistan border killed at least four IS group leaders, Khogyani said. He said a clearance operation to assess the site of the attack was continuing.

There are probably dozens or hundreds buried in those tunnels we will never know about.
You have to remember the bomb did not penetrate the ground, which it is not designed to do. It blew up in midair and that made the tunnels and bunkers collapse.
Massive Ordnance Air Blast, is the correct name; the acronym spelled out “The Mother of All Bombs”, is over used and misguiding if not flaunting journalistic immaturity.

The mission was to destroy all the base of armaments etc. stored in those tunnels and if the taliban perps were there all the better. Also to shake rattle and role them, which the psychological affect is powerful in this bomb. I listened to people who had ‘left’ the communities there that the Taliban families had seized and overtaken for themselves. They had moved far enough away to avoid the Taliban....they could hear and feel that bomb and explained how loud and ferocious it was....scared and shook them even....so imagine being there closer ....
One wonders if there are any other bad guys in the world who have underground bunkers they thought were safe from the US.

Indeed.....nothing left to tell if a body was even there....and even those it doesn’t vaporize their ears, eyes, and internal organs are destroyed.....they doe too.
Then there’s the impact of the aftershock as it rambles out for a mile or so....those close to that will know they were hit and many injured or die being thrown by the power of it.
