Taleb is talking about something interesting here. Among the mideastern tribes child sacrifice was a common element to worship of the gods. This in part may explain why, when God told Abraham to sacrifice his son, he didn’t refuse. Most modern people would simply say, no, that can’t be God... but in Abraham’s time human sacrifice was common.
But in this moment God explicitly rejected the sacrifice of humans on the altar. And this set the Abrahamites apart from the surrounding tribes from that moment forward.
