A California federal judge on Friday strongly questioned the U.S. Justice Department over whether to suspend an order by President Donald Trump to withhold federal funds from so-called sanctuary cities for immigrants.

U.S. District Court Judge William Orrick III questioned the purpose of the president's order as he heard arguments from two large California counties and the Justice Department in San Francisco federal court. Both counties have asked for a nationwide preliminary injunction to the order.

As part of a larger plan to transform how the United States deals with immigration and national security, Trump in January signed an order targeting cities and counties that limit cooperation with federal immigration authorities.

Cool, judge, then any city can defy any federal law they want to, right?

Yeah what is a judge doing involved in this?

Trump could make a different offer. Send in the national guard and round up each and every illegal and ship them off.

National guard answers to the president of the US ultimately.

I wonder if these judges are establishing a precedence for future States right issues.

The Obama admin came down hard on Arizona when the state tried to administer the fed immigration law for its own security.

Now some states are claiming authority over the feds on immigration and Liberal judges seem to be okay with it.

The Congress can stop this nonsense.
They can limit judicial review in such cases as this and there’s nothing the libs can do about it except cry........................

This is bridge too far for the left.
Issuing a judicial fiat barring a policy you oppose is different from demanding that the Money Store not make you a loan—but give you money.

The federal `carrot or the stick’ has been the policy in Republican as well as `rat administrations. Good luck with that judge/political hack.

If this clown in a gown conspires with the Democrats, (Chuckles vis a vis others: lawyer water carriers) and cobbles together another Democratic attempt, in the form of a court order, to torpedo the election, President Trump should ignore it.

Congress can do a lot things within their power. Only problem is, they won’t or don’t.
