Two Secret Service agents have reportedly been fired in relation to an incident last month when a California man scaled the fence and roamed the White House grounds for nearly 20 minutes.
The two agents who have been fired had been on the job for less than a year and were assigned to guard posts located at the Treasury Building and an entrance on East Executive Avenue when 26-year-old Jonathan Tran scaled multiple fences, set off alarms and wandered around the White House for 17 minutes before anyone stopped him in mid-March.
The Secret Service review of the March 10 incident is ongoing, a spokesman said in a statement Thursday. The Secret Service continues to take appropriate actions based upon findings of the mission assurance review. We do not comment on personnel actions. However, all Secret Service personnel are held to the highest standards of professional and ethical conduct.

Why do they use the word “fired”? I don’t think that they know what it means.
Why do you assume they weren’t fired.....been there less than a year. That means the can be let go with little effort. They would have still been on probation
Somebody had to take on the chin for the screw up. Why not two sacrificial newbies? Couldn’t possibly have been a lack of supervision or training. Right? Riiiiiiiight.
It may be you that doesn’t know what it means.
Do you have ANY information to the contrary?
If your not going to do your job, whether your a ‘newbie’ or not, you don’t have a job...
That’s the way it worked all my life, why should it be any different now?
Problems now days is no body know what ‘work’ is...sitting on the couch and getting free rent, food stamps and free health insurance in my book does not constitute ‘working’...
Good, now maybe some of the ‘oldies’ will take notice and understand why they are there:
TO PROTECT OUR PRESIDENT AND PROPERTY!!!
Funny, two rookies get canned and no supervisors, etc.
If the rookies were still on probation they could be fired very quickly. After probationary time is up it takes a long time to go through the process to fire people. I watched the process to fire a federal LEO that was a genuine screw up and dangerous to everyone that worked with him. That process took nearly a year! So if supervisors are going to be fired it will take a while. The system needs to be changed but it is what it is right now.
What do you call the fireing of two government employees ?
A good start.
What I truly don’t understand is why they don’t have dogs on the grounds.
Boxers, for instance, can be trained to post up in front of any intruder. They will not attack and bite without command, but they post up and block. If the stranger takes one step towards them, they get a serious warning growl and if they continue to advance, the boxer will only bite to hang on or if the intruder is down, they let go.
There is no human that compares with the dumbest dog for security, 24/7, rain or shine, etc.
What about the idiot who left a computer and documents on the back of a motorcycle in the middle of the night in NY?
“assigned to guard posts located at the Treasury Building.”
They’re lucky they weren’t assigned to keeping an eye on the glaciers in Alaska.
Good point, and it sends a message, the SS had better shape up or some who will be a little more difficult to fire will end up on Trumps carpet.
Yes, it was not written correctly. “were assigned to guard posts” should be “had been assigned to guard posts”.
I hear there are some job openings at the Chicago airport.
“The two agents who have been fired had been on the job for less than a year”
I would think White House duty is the gravy for a SS job. Of all the other SS offices in the nation why would two newbies get assigned WH duty or even duty in DC?
After many years of seeing things like this it’s a pretty safe assumption. You see, firing an employee is an automatic black mark for his supervisor. The easiest path is to simply transfer them to some out of the way place like Guam. We’ll never know.
No noooooo NOT Guam. If we put too many people there, it might tip over.
Ok, seriously.. why would two newbies be on duty at the WH? Well, simple answer might be that the SS bosses don’t like Trump and put newbies there on purpose.
That’s right. New federal employees have a two year probationary period. My son is a new DOD civil servant and that is what he tells me.
