I'm somewhat familiar with a small portion of the US/Canadian border...the portion involving northern New England and New Brunswick/Quebec.There's one small section (Vermont/Quebec) with which I'm *quite* familiar and that particular portion is about as porous as one could imagine.It's my understanding that,under Canadian law,all a "refugee" needs to do is to somehow set foot onto Canadian soil,call Canadian police to give themselves up and they're automatically entitled to apply for refugee status.

In fact I read an article recently stating there are refugees that make their way to a Quebec town called Maagog (which I've driven through often) and they call the police there.
