Our record in Yemen, Iraq, Libya, etc has gone very well.
I have yet to hear of one....
That is the problem. Just what rebel group does our neo globalist President envision running Syria that would create stability and protect Christians, women and other minorities. A need for an American garrison? NATO steps up? Perhaps another 2-3 trillion dollars of American aid ( borrowed from China) to rebuild Syria. Please tell us.
Maybe let Putin run it.
Ted’s sounding like the old Trump pre Ivanka.
I guess we should’ve gone with the high-IQ younger guy who reads and analyzes things.
Well duh. Let islams kill each other until there are so few they die off. Modern governments and islam can not exist in the same space.
islam is like Ebola in a society...it kills it dead.
In so many countries, we’ve helped topple tyrannical dictators, only to get someone even more brutal who hates us even more. Will we learn from history?
Neither side is worth our blood and treasure.
Well, “duh”, Ted. That would be
Basic Topple-101, wouldn’t it?
“Strategy” will become the new trap laid for Trump, something useful to peck apart and peddle to the poodles on the Left and the RINO neo-cons, mostly cons in their own right.
In this era of overnight bubbling of crisis anywhere at any time, is it even possible to set your load in concrete, by producing some thesis styled Strategy that locks you in to futility, as it may never quite apply to the event of these quickly triggered crisis.
Striking the Syrian airfield so fast, spectacularly and precisely, last Thursday, was reportedly because it was a plan already put in place, and never shelved, under Obama’s generals. Mad Dog Mattis was privy to the plan, thus, it was carried out flawlessly. It was not baked from scratch.
Chances are slim that a “plan” for every conceivable crisis, however, anywhere and everywhere, could be possible. The Pentagon put that plan together for Obama, when he considered taking out Assad.
Cruz is going to find a camera every 9 days anyway, like clock work, to comment on some point or another to share his wisdom, which always centers on his re-election campaign.
Sadly, he has no competition to primary him. Turn out for his primary will be much lower, given his mask has slipped, to somewhere around his ankles.
Blast.
A voice in the wilderness.
So many people in power seem to have learned so little from the catastrophe in Iraq.
These people are not ready for western style democracy.
Knocking a strong man out of power leaves total chaos.
It’s easy to be a back bencher and lay down markers so if things go to hell, you keep your hands clean.
What so many are missing is that Trump doesn’t have and doesn’t need to have a detailed plan to install a specific someone as a replacement for Assad. His approach will be to push the Russians and the Syrians to do it.
As for vision, Trump has a clearer vision than any president, at least, since Reagan.
A vision and a plan are two different things. A vision is knowing where things ought to be, and Trump’s style is not to let plans get in the way. He will continue to watch for opportunities that move things closer to his vision and will likely not let himself get bogged down in laying out a specific roadmap.
He will continue to be criticized for lack of a specific plan, but the only fair way to judge him will be the results he gets. I’m still very optimistic he will accomplish great things.
I don’t know what the strategy is here with Assad, ISIS, Syria and the Russians. There’s a lot of moving pieces.
So Trump, like Obama did, should telegraph to the MSM, our enemies, exactly what we intend to do and how many bombs, troops, etc. Just put all cards on the table face-up?
Does that sound like a winning strategy?
I will choose to trust he will tell us stuff when it gives our enemy no advantage and the element of surprise is still intact...that includes using overwhelming force they cannot prepare for.
