I remember seeing a documentary on the Autobahn in Germany years ago.At one point they discuss accidents that occur on that highway...the parts that don’t have speed limits.A German policeman said that often the victims of such accidents are so badly mangled that they can’t even be recognized as being human.

I’m not a policeman, but I’ve come onto the scene of a few wrecks in my time and I can attest. The degree to which people can be shredded, eviscerated, pulped in car accidents is horrifying. Makes me wonder how anyone can casually fiddle with their phone while going 80 miles per hour.

I've driven the Autobahn. The road surfaces are superior to anywhere else I've driven. The rules are simple, stay out of the left lane unless you passing and keep checking your rear view mirror.

That doesn’t surprise me. Many years ago (I mean MANY), my wife and I were vacationing in Switzerland and we drove up a winding road to get to the tunnel through the Alps. We saw a sports car that had crashed not long before we arrived and it was broken clean in two. There wasn’t much left to indicate it was an automobile...I figure the driver was probably squashed like those on the Autobahn.
