CNN Exclusive: Classified docs contradict Nunes surveillance claims, GOP and Dem sources say
CNN ^ | 04/11/2017 | Jim Sciutto, Manu Raju, Eric Bradner

Posted on 04/11/2017 11:53:41 PM PDT by Fedora

After a review of the same intelligence reports brought to light by House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes, both Republican and Democratic lawmakers and aides have so far found no evidence that Obama administration officials did anything unusual or illegal, multiple sources in both parties tell CNN. . .

One congressional intelligence source described the requests made by Rice as "normal and appropriate" for officials who serve in that role to the president. And another source said there's "absolutely" no smoking gun in the reports, urging the White House to declassify them to make clear there was nothing alarming in the documents.

Still, some members of Congress continue to have concerns about the justification given for the unmasking requests and the standards for the intelligence community to grant such requests, which reveal the private data of US persons mentioned in intelligence reports based on routine intelligence collection aimed at foreign nationals. . .

Rice is among the list of witnesses that House and Senate Intelligence officials want to interview as part of its probe into Russian attempts to meddle with the US elections. House Democrats and Republicans on the Intelligence Committee are near agreement on the list of witnesses to interview, with the GOP mostly focusing on people who may have leaked classified information and the Democrats hoping to question Trump associates who may have ties to Russia. . .

From Jim Sciutto, member of the intrepid Fake News(TM) team that brought you the Dodgy Dossier. CNN and the Washington Post are also making much ado about Carter Page over the past day.

CNN sez: "Nothing to see here, folks. Move along."

That's nice.

It's so reassuring to know that President Trump, when he comes up for re-election, will be able to use the full power of the government's intelligence apparatus to spy on political opponents and their aides and associates—to go sifting through all of their personal data and communications, and to selectively unmask certain persons and then leak information in order to attack and embarrass them.

The Justice department and the Republicans in Congress—anyone with an ounce of integrity—need to nail these corrupt bastards to the wall.

I think the American people might have something to say about such attitudes and "routine practices"...

Sounds good. Trump should start unmasking all calls involving CNN journalists and democrats.

I bet he had no idea that this is all legal and can be done by any low level staffer.

Yep, anonymous sources, and they’ve also shifted ground from denying there was surveillance to trying to justify the surveillance and unmasking. I take this as part of the PR offensive for Susan Rice’s legal defense.

The other non-routine part the article doesn’t address is Obama’s last-minute order to distribute the unmasked information throughout the intelligence community, which Obama’s team has publicly said they did for purposes of promoting the “Russian” investigation after Trump took office.

Also, as far as I understand those reports are only available to “the Gang of Eight” and not to the whole Intelligence Committee(s). That is unless all the information that is contained in these briefs have been released by the originating agencies.

If he started unmasking all of CNN’s calls, I wonder how many calls from Obama’s intelligence community allies would turn up.

The limited circulation of the actual documents leaves them free to make up any narrative they want until the documents get declassified.

And the PIAPS didn’t do anything that was worthy of prosecution.

Yeah. Like I trust anything from the Obamanation of Desolation agency flunkies

So a week later they can now address the Susan Rice lies that she knew nothing about any of this...

How queer.

Cherry picking the anonymous sources again, eh? So much left out.

who determined that the day-to-day humdrum activities of Trump and his people would be included in the Presidential Daily Briefing?

If all that this sigint and humint showed was benign and devoid of any Russian involvment, what was the need to identify the players?

Once the personal ID’s were revealed to Susan Rice, what did she do with it? Leave it lying on the table? Hand it around for others to read?

Smells like more FAKE news from CNN.

The Fake Commie News Network is obviously mimicking what Nunes did to get the story out about the Obama surveillance activities. FCNN is saying they got the scoop from the same sources Nunes did. That gives their Fake News the legitimacy they want to make it believable by the gullible public.

After Catherine Engelbrecht of True the Vote testified to congress about IRS abuse in Feb 2014, some four additional federal agencies subsequently harassed her, True the Vote, and her husband’s business.

It stands to reason that every federal agency, including the NSA, was on call to assist Hillary in 2016.

The Fourth Amendment is gone, welcome to the surveillance state.

Congress will do nothing.

The DOJ should remove the matter from politics and turn it over to a Grand Jury in the heartland, say Omaha, Nebraska.

there's "absolutely" no smoking gun in the reports,

When has organized crime ever left a smoking guy anywhere?

And it is always especially amusing when scoundrels say, there isn't a "shred" of evidence.

Garbage journalism. Schiff walked out of his viewing apparently looking like a ghost. There is something there.
