Before we send the IDF’s 36th Armor Division to occupy Damascus, we should stop and examine the Israeli interest regarding the situation in Syria in light of recent events.

Since the devastating images from the battles in the town of Idlib were published Monday, Israel is once again facing a moral dilemma regarding the required action in such a situation. With all the grief over the loss of lives, especially of innocent children, Israel should weigh its options carefully and responsibly and ask itself whether its strategic and tactical situation changed on Tuesday, and whether it requires a ground invasion or “noisy” Air Force strikes ...

Lots of analysts think Assad in his desperation to the new American threats could launch an attack on Israel in order to rally Arab & Iranian support.

If he does, he’ll fulfill Isaiah 17:1 on that very day.

I think Netanyahu is smarter than to involve himself.

The next guy could be even worse, as it relates to his nation.

Like the peace the world got when Israel stayed out of Iraq and Afghanistan?

True. But a little stirring of the pot now and then to keep things moving in the right direction never hurts.

It’s all about priorities. Israel has made it clear that Shia Iran is their greatest existential enemy. Shia Hezbollah in Southern Lebanon is number two. The Shiite Assad is friendly with Iran and has direct alliances with Hezbollah and Iranian Revolutionary Guard in fighting the Sunni Salafists in Southern Syria.
In my opinion, this makes him a marked man as far as Israel is concerned. Why do you think the IAF bombs Assad’s forces but rarely will attack ISIS and Al-Nusra/Al-Qaeda?

“Israel doesn’t need to do anything. Just sit back and watch”

If you capture Damascus now, then you are in charge of defeating the whole witches brew of Jihadi and Iranian groups in Syria.

Let them punch each other out, until one victor finally crawls badly wounded to victory - then take over.
