~The FReeper Canteen Presents~

Road Trip: Creech Air Force Base, Nevada

Creech Air Force Base is a United States Air Force (USAF) command and control facility in Clark County, Nevada used "to engage in daily Overseas Contingency Operationsof remotely piloted aircraft systems which fly missions across the globe.

In addition to an airport, the military installation has the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Battlelab, associated aerial warfare ground equipment, and unmanned aerial vehicles of the type used in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Creech is the aerial training site for the USAF Thunderbirds and "is one of two emergency divert airfields" for the Nevada Test and Training Range.

In addition to the airfield, Creech Air Force Base includes the "UAV-Logistic and Training Facility", the Joint Unmanned Aerial Systems Center of Excellence, Silver Flag Alpha Regional Training Center, and other military units/facilities. The base in named in honor of retired US Air Force General Wilbur L. Creech, the former commanding officer of Tactical Air Command (TAC), the predecessor command of the current Air Combat Command (ACC).

The MQ-1 Predator is a medium-altitude, long-endurance, remotely piloted aircraft. The MQ-1's primary mission is interdiction and conducting armed reconnaissance against critical, perishable targets. When the MQ-1 is not actively pursuing its primary mission, it acts as the Joint Forces Air Component Commander-owned theater asset for reconnaissance, surveillance and target acquisition in support of the Joint Forces commander.

The MQ-9 Reaper is a medium-to-high altitude, long endurance remotely piloted aircraft system. The MQ-9's primary mission is as a persistent hunter-killer against emerging targets to achieve joint force commander objectives. The MQ-9's alternate mission is to act as an intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance asset, employing sensors to provide real-time data to commanders and intelligence specialists at all levels.

I don’t think I have ever heard of that base but it looks interesting. Maybe some unusual things going on there?

Howdy, Kathy. ((HUGZ))

Yes, got things done early today and got to sit down at a reasonable hour. Still can’t believe I got in so quickly the FR’s dragging today.

Another beautiful, hot day today here though it’s getting cloudy. Rain moving in tonight and tomorrow. Looks like Dusty and his crew are racing to beat it since they’re in the fields plowing right now.

I see y’all broke 40 degrees today! Could it be that Spring has arrived at long last?

Hope your day hasn’t been too crazy at work.

Today was not a Maddi day. Friday, Saturday and yesterday morning was. As well as the GSons and their dog George to play with Charlie.

Yes it is.

Sort of reminds me of space stations you see in Sci Fi movies.
