President Trump’s Thursday airstrike on a Syrian airfield is offensive to Native Americans, Mother Jones editor-in-chief Clara Jeffery tweeted over the weekend.
Jeffery wrote the fact “that the missiles are callled [sic] tomahawks must enrage a lot of Native Americans…”
… which in hindsight, probably wasn’t the smartest thing to say.

Nonsense - copying is the best form of flattery, and just as native Americans were proud of the military significance of the tomahawk of their day, it is with celebration, not derision of that, that the Tomahawk missile has its name.

Yeah, I heard when NASA named the moon mission Apollo a bunch of dead Greeks got real upset.
As Twitter has already pointed out, the Tomahawk is a British invention and was introduced by Redcoats to their Indian allies in the colonial wars.
Nonsense. Many Native American tribes have proud warrior traditions. Instead of naming a navy ship for Harvey Milk or Jimmy Carter it is high time we honor Native American warriors. Why not a USS Crazy Horse or USS Sitting Bull?
So would naming a weapons system Excalibur enrage the Brits?
Would a Katana missile lead to the Japanese taking to the streets?

First, it must really butthurt to pull a flaming bunny like that one!
Second, this E.I.C. skirt would really have something twisted knowing that these missiles have been around before the Clintons and the birth of ‘PC’.
Third, i cannot think of a more appropriate name for a military weapon. Mel Gibson proved that, yes, you can throw them! (Using an example a snowflake would pull.)
If she got butthurt with ‘tomahawk’, how about the helicopters called, ‘Iroquois’, ‘Kiowa’, ‘Apache’, ‘Blackhawk’, ‘Chinook’, for examples?
We started naming teams and places to revive their history.
We had the Redskin Club in our area and one of their chiefs attended the annual dinner.
Our museum had groups make "indian artifacts" for their cases.
They should thank us instead of "using" us.
