Brion James, who played Leon in the movie, died in 1999 from a heart attack. He was 59.

He was in other movies: Southern Comfort, 48 Hrs., Another 48 Hrs., Tango & Cash, Red Heat, The Player and The Fifth Element.

Just watched “The Fifth Element” again. He did a great job with deadpan comedy.
