In Trump They Trust: Inside The Global Web Of Partners Cashing In On The President
Forbes Magazine ^ | March 28, 2017 | Dan Alexander

A previously little-known batch of billionaires and tycoons from around the world suddenly find themselves in an unprecedented position: How do you cash in on a partnership with the president of the United States of America? From the avaricious dealmakers to the abandoned deals, meet the world's 36 mini-Trumps.

All told, at least 14 from this community of partners, from Turkey to India to the Philippines, attended the inauguration festivities.

"People often talk about partners as not necessarily friends, almost as if they're mutually exclusive. 'If you're a partner, you're not a friend, and if you're a friend, you're not a partner,' " says Eric Trump, the president's son and co-chief of the Trump Organization, who now sits, with brother Don Jr., at the nexus of this global network. "I think that's a bad way of thinking."

The night before Donald J. Trump becomes the 45th president of the United States, his recently opened Trump International Hotel in Washington, D.C., serves as the capital's de facto inner sanctum. Barricades ring the place; if you don't have a room or a reservation, good luck getting in.

As with any club worth its gilt, secret, concentric rings of exclusivity sit in plain sight, and one starts near the lobby bar, which is lined with bottles of Dom Pérignon and draped with a giant American flag. There, Hary Tanoesoedibjo, Trump's billionaire Indonesian business partner, sits on a plush sofa, texting with Trump's billionaire Dubai partner, Hussain Sajwani. Eventually they meet, and Tanoesoedibjo later posts an Instagram picture of himself, Sajwani and their wives mugging for the camera in the lobby of the Trump International Hotel.

Isn’t it terrible we have an accomplished chief executive who knows what it’s like to have to a bottom line?

Oh the horrors. AND HE KNOWS PEOPLE! Despicable(s)... “:^)

I don’t care for these stories. It fuels leftist claims of collusion.

It’s a positive story. Don’t get your pants in a bundle. I think it’s a great article. Not a negative one.

Only if you hate rich people would you consider this a negative article.

I agree with that. It’s why I responded like I did.

We want an accomplished capable person. We get one, and they go about trying to say he has no grasp of the common man, only does stuff to help billionaires and the like.

It’s nothing but noise.

They lost. They’re fit to be tied. They can hardly make from day to day, or get up in the morning.

Welcome to our life over the last eight years.

“Barricades ring the place; if you don’t have a room or a reservation, good luck getting in.”

That’s to keep people safe from the left wing lunatics and paid Soros socialists!!

You know, even a presentation like this is going to spark the reaction I addressed. I don’t disagree with you, but this just feeds sick people out there.

These people need a psychologist, not reinforcement.

Will they see this as a nice positive article, or will they see it as evidence Trump is an elite, helps elites, could care less about or identify with the common folk?

They’ll see it any way they want to see it.

I know DJT has been talking about running for prez for decades, but when he announced this time, it occurred to me that he saw Hillary and Bill and Chelsea cleaning up hundreds of millions without actually working for it and thought public service looked like a growth industry for his family too.

Think it won’t be?

OTOH, I was and remain a supporter. Having a capitalist leader for a change means things will actually get done. When the Trump team wins, America wins. I hope.

I vividly remember sitting in my dad’s office when I was a teen watching him wink at me as he signed a check for a “donation” to a Chicago union boss. Those donations, he explained later, ensured that his trucks would get through and his sidewalks plowed when the trucking and plowing unions went on strike. Business as usual. Nice to have your own hotel to conduct it in.

I viewed his talk this time as different. We know he greased the hands of the Clintons and other questionable characters. When he addressed things this time, there was not mincing of words. He saw the Clintons for exactly who they were.

IMO < I think he knew all along. He wanted access. He got it. Inside he spotted them for who they were. I’m sure of it. He’s not that challenged.

So my thoughts run more in line with him finally wanting to put a stop the the garish criminality they were getting away with.

He ended their political careers. He destroyed their foundation. She is seen for the disgusting freakish hoodlum she is. Thanks Donald.

The family thing, he’s used to working with them. He trusts them. He knows them, how they work, what they think like. It’s only natural for him to want some old mainstays around.

To me he was a sure bet as far as being a CEO of an international multi layered leadership team. I know he would hit the ground running. At one point I stated a number of times he would probably get four to ten times the work done another politician would. That’s his management style.

He puts people on projects and expects them to produce. He gets reports and tweaks if he needs to. He’ll have ten projects going where other guys would have two or three. And he’ll be the guy who assigned the tasks. He’ll be the one setting the agenda.

Obama had someone feeding him their agenda. I have often thought it was George Soros. Not with Trump he won’t.

You know, Trump dealt with the unions too. I wouldn’t be surprised if he had the same type of arrangements as your dad had set up. It’s how you do business in some areas of the nation. There’s not anything you can do about it. You play along or else. There’s really no choice.

At any rate, thanks for the note. I enjoyed it.

36 Trumps? I don't think so. 36 wealthy guys? Maybe.

Where did ya get all that? Trump has sacrificed a whole lot to take this country back. Not to mention so many death threats they stopped counting. He told ya multiple times he didn't need or want more money and in fact he has so much money, D.C. was unable to corrupt him. From my perspective, half the country doesn't even deserve this level of leadership.

Congress is full of bribe takers. Every one of them. Not Trump too, I hope.

I believed I reported that as “it occurred to me,” one of many thoughts I had at the time.

I also knew he wasn’t actually a politician, yet during the first debateI saw him in my mind’s eye taking the oath of office on the Capitol steps . I discussed that on another site 15 months before the election. The image never left my mind….you might ask me, “where’d ya get that?” about that too.

Please don’t tell me you were one of the people who really wanted Cruz or Rubio or Jeb! to run, as many people here did. Then I’d have to ask you, “Where’d you get that idea?”

Let me get this straight. It occurred to you Trump saw all this corruption and thought he and his family could benefit from it too? Is this correct?
