Federal prosecutors in Nevada have asked a judge to schedule the second Bunkerville conspiracy trial for rancher Cliven Bundy, sons Ammon Bundy and Ryan Bundy and other leading defendants in the 2014 armed standoff near the family ranch for June 5 or later.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Steven Myhre urged the court to set a definitive date to help lawyers on both sides prepare for the second trial and assist witnesses in making travel arrangements.
The request comes as the prosecutors are still in the initial trial of six co-defendants that began Feb. 6 and has lasted nearly two months.....
In Nevada, the Bundy's face 16 felony counts, including extortion, obstruction of justice, conspiracy to commit an offense against the United States, conspiracy to impede or injure federal officer, assault on a federal officer and threatening a federal officer.
In a related matter, defendant Pete Santilli supports a June 5 trial date but also asked that he be tried separately from the Bundys.....
In his latest motion, Santilli sought to distance himself from the actions of Ammon Bundy, who has been protesting jail strip searches, and was led into federal court in Nevada one day in his underwear. Bundy is being held at the Nevada Southern Detention Center in Pahrump, which is about 63 miles west of Las Vegas.....

Pete Santilli, the internet broadcaster, wants a separate trial no doubt because he wants to make a First Amendment defense of his actions.
Its nothing to get excited about according to a supporter of the cause, Kel Stewart, in a live video posted last evening.
Stewart is very disturbed by the harassment of the people observing the first trial of six defendants considered "followers" underway now.
These people who are protesting outside and making videos in support of the defendants have been arrested, threatened, given citations, traffic tickets etc. etc. sometimes by federal marshals a little but a lot by Las Vegas Metropolitan Police.
My insight into this situation is the fact that there was an incident in Las Vegas after the Bunkerville Standoff in 2014.
Two people who had been at the protest, I would call them spectators, gawkers, thrill seekers, committed an insane act of violence walking up behind two Las Vegas Metro Police officers and assassinating them.
The Las Vegas cops think these peaceful, Constitution supporting protestors are "terrorist" fellows of those that killed their fellows.
The cops in Vegas are wrong in their assumption.
