On target: US claims 100 percent success as 59 missiles hit 59 targets at Syrian airfield
Washington Examiner ^

The Pentagon says the highly-accurate satellite guided missiles, launched from two ships in the Mediterranean sea, hit every target with pinpoint precision.

It took launching 61 missiles total to put 59 on target. One missile failed, and another had to be aborted. In both cases another missile was launched to take its place.

The Pentagon released imagery that shows hardened shelters were no match for the cruise missiles. Each of the targeted shelters had a hole in the top, and charred airplane wreckage scattered nearby.

The U.S. is still doing a more complete assessment, but estimates 20 Syrian warplanes were destroyed either in bunkers or in the clear.

In addition, a Russian-made surface-to-air missile site and its associated radar was destroyed, essentially rendering the airfield unprotected against a future attack, at least in the short term.

There’s been Russian and Syrian propaganda news reports that most of the missiles missed their targets and there was minimal damage to the air force base.

If your bombing a air base shouldn't you bomb the runway?

This thing looks like a trap. Democrats are going to pretend unity so that the Stasi Democrat FBI not be overhauled and zhillary let go of.

Well, most recently, they were used to drop chemical weapons on civilians, including children. We are so sorry that you feel that such actions don't demand an active response, but thankfully cowards like you are not in positions of power.

According to the Pentagon, the runway was hardened and could have been patched up within days. Radar systems, aircraft were better targets.

I still be don’t understand that if chemical weapons were stored there why didn’t we know that. Supposedly our intelligence on the ground knows all.

And if chemicals were stored there why didn’t at least some if it get loose when our bombs hit them?

Finally, if that’s where Assad’s airplanes were loaded with chemicals and we destroyed all of them then there should be no sense in warning him not to do it again. He REALLY doesn’t have anymore now.

Firstly, it is "you're".... secondly, urging that we should be using million dollar smart weapons to put ruts into a roadway further shows your lack of intelligence. Fighter jets and defense systems cannot be replaced quite as quickly as asphalt. Nice try at attempting to create an air of dissent, but you fail once again.

“According to the Pentagon, the runway was hardened and could have been patched up within days. Radar systems, aircraft were better targets.”
So fly in a new radar system and your airfield is fully operational within hours

ROFLMAO, you think a nation like Syria has extra lying around, and has the capability of flying them in with a quick call to FedEx? You are laughable.

And again, the important point made here today was the message that despots can not use chemical weapons without repercussions. Are you really that obtuse that you cannot understand that? We don't do Obama speeches anymore, we actually punish out-of-control leaders now.
