Russian fishing trawlers used to harass our ships on our own coasts. I was on watch (04 dark 15) on a loaded tanker headed up the Oregon Coast when one came full speed at me within throwing distance. Late 70’s
Russian fishing trawlers (the ones with more than 100 radio and radar antenae) used to drift and wait until we were hooked up with an oiler or ammo ship off Yankee Station and then steam straight towards us at their flank speed and force an early breakaway. This games been played a long time.
