At least three possible bidders have emerged to purchase the Miami Marlins baseball team including one representing the countrys most prominent political family, and one representing a future Hall of Famer, the FOX Business Network has learned.
Former New York Yankees star shortstop Derek Jeter has expressed interest in bidding for the team, according to people with direct knowledge of the matter. He is being represented in talks with Marlins president David Samson by veteran Wall Street executive and former Morgan Stanley (MS) brokerage chief Gregory Fleming, who now runs his own investment banking boutique, the people say.
Another major contender is a group headed by former Florida Governor and one-time GOP presidential candidate Jeb Bush, who is teaming up with Citigroup (C) to finance a possible official bid, these people add.

The Marlins are a sad case. They have a beautiful new stadium, but they just don’t draw many fans. I wonder if they are losing money and that’s part of the reason the team is for sale.
Free Guac Bowl day.
Battered Marlins?
Do they come with fries and cole slaw?...............
Bush and Citigroup...partners in organized crime.
Jeb can fix the Marlins. He’ll bring Mike Murphy in to handle marketing and publicity. Even if they are in last place, Mike will have a strategy to keep the donors (I mean fans) coming to games.
I sure wouldn’t wish Jeb on them.
SOunds like a Smart move by Jeb and Citi, do you have any idea how much Drug Cash you can Launder at a Stadium Event!!!
I grew up in South Florida. I was 14 went they were founded.
They went to the World Series 2 times in a short period of time, and won. In both seasons, they sold off nearly every star on the team. That pisses people off.
They have a huge market of a city, and they have the lowest payroll, nearly every year. F-em
Yeb! can get them illegal aliens from Mexico cheap, really cut down the payroll.
Jeter makes more sense to me.
I almost feel sorry for Jeb. His brother was president, so Jeb ran. His brother owned a baseball team, now he wants one.
It sounds better than the battered tilapia a local establishment tries to pass off as ‘fish and chips.’

LOL! That was my first thought, too. :)
I can recall a number of years back serious talk about folding the franchise altogether (along with the Minnesota Twins). Bet that the players’ union was not too chuffed about that idea.
Clap for the Marlins
(with apologies to the late Wolfman Jack)
LOW ENERGY
Most of the fans who do go to their games, root for the visiting team.
Guess Who sang that.
Yes, I know. I could hear the voice of Burton Cummings as I posted it.
Nonetheless, Wolfman Jack did several lines in the song.
I was just making a Guess Who joke.
