Rep. Thomas Massie: Susan Rice? ‘There Is Even More Than Is Being Revealed Right Now’

Kentucky Republican Rep. Thomas Massie told Breitbart News at a sit-down interview in the congressman’s office he believes the reports of former national security adviser Susan Rice unmasking names of associates of President Donald Trump, collected incidentally and cloaked as a constitutional protection against warrantless surveillance.

“You know? I think there is even more to this story than is being revealed right now,” said Massie, who is the only Republican to have voted against Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) at the beginning of this session of Congress. “For over three years, I have been offering legislation to fix this problem.”

Massie said he agrees with Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), who told reporters Monday that Rice needs to be brought before Congress and asked questions under oath.

“Oh, I think we should, but if we express all this righteous indignation about these programs? We are obligated to fix these programs,” he said.

Massie said he suspects that Rice went into the government database and searched for the names of Americans caught in the drag net, which were accessible through the database.

“It is unconstitutional, when they go in and search the database–essentially they are doing a virtual wiretap–as soon as you ID a U.S. citizen,” he said.

Don’t ‘think’! Produce evidence to the people. We’ve had enough speculation. The People have a right to know facts. Do not underestimate the number of rational, reasonable citizens who are capable of critical thinking. (That leaves out the myrmidons on the left)

I certainly agree with that. However --

What has happened in the past, is that people like Rice plead the Fifth 547 times, and then the government acts completely stymied and basically shrugs and says "We can't possibly convict this person of anything -- they didn't confess! Case closed!"

I'm hoping they don't handle it that way this time.

Massie said he suspects that Rice went into the government database and searched for the names of Americans caught in the drag net, which were accessible through the database.

This is the money quote. How did Rice know which conversations involved Trump associates to unmask? Did she just make several lucky guesses? I suspect she was either tipped off by the intelligence operative who was monitoring the Russians or she searched a voice to text database for Trump associates names to determine which conversation she wanted unmasked. This would explain why she would need spreadsheets to keep track of a large volume of unmasking requests.

From the article:

Massie said he suspects that Rice went into the government database and searched for the names of Americans caught in the drag net, which were accessible through the database.

This is a common practice inside the executive branch and law enforcement agencies with access to the database, he said.

“It is unconstitutional, when they go in and search the database–essentially they are doing a virtual wiretap–as soon as you ID a U.S. citizen,” he said.

I would like to see it confirmed that searching the database for Americans is that easy and that Loretta Lynch and/or Susan Rice had access to that system. Big deal if they did.

The difference here is that the victims of the wrongdoing are the ones in the executive branch who would make key decisions in the investigation. It was easy for Clinton/Obama cronies to sweep their crimes under the rug when Bill Clinton or Barack Obama was in the White House, but that is not the case right now.

I've said since Monday, when this story broke, that nothing substantial will happen to Rice. If someone gets their finger caught in the gears, it may be Ben Rhodes, her underling. But Rice will skate.

Everybody gets their hopes up that we have finally got to someone we can prosecute and then the story fizzles.

I'm not holding my breath waiting for Rice to go to the pokey. I've had enough "fizzles" for a while.

I believe Rice will turn states evidence eventually.

This has to be handled like they handled the take down of the mob way back when.

At least a few of her lackeys need to be flipped.

Problem is, it is hard to kill all cockroaches.

If, in fact, Trump was colluding with Russians, why would Susan Rice be investigating this?

Did she work for the investigative arm of the White House?

Pretty sure she didn’t.

"We are obligated to fix these programs,” he said. "

An honest Congressman?

Expect the FBI to bust him any day now for kiddie porn "found" on his computer or some such thing.

Intelligence analysts provided reports to Rice. Why does Rice need to know who a “US person” is when the analysts have already made a determination that their identity is of no intelligence value? Her story makes no sense.
