Who ordered Rice to do this? Obama?

You'll probably find no direct link to Obama. He hired ideologues who knew exactly what to do without needing to be told to do it.

From the WAPO comments section:

"Susan's melanin cloaking device might not be enough to save her."

It must be pretty bad if WashPo admits there is ‘some answering to do’

If she randomly is found drown in a few inches of water, attacked by her workout ball, suicide using the wrong hand, is found with a pillow on her face, randomly suffers cardiac arrest, etc. - then we’ll know she got whacked.

If they find her with an arrow in her back or missing a scalp, it was Little Lizzy Warren.

This whole, “She did nothing wrong” angle is exactly why Trump needs to say....

“We are going to do an internal investigation to find out exactly what Rice did and we are going to use the same methods and tactics against Democrats in the 2018 and 2020 elections.”

You can bet your ass the media will be interested in finding out exactly what Rice did. They will be asking Spicer about it every single day.....

“What have you determined Rice did? What domestic intelligence tactics are you going to use against Democrats in 2018 and 2020?”

He can just say, “Sorry it involves secret intelligence procedures. I can’t tell you. We are just going to follow the pattern established by Ms. Rice.”

They will say everything she did was horrible and terrible and should never be done by anyone else ever again. Elected Democrats will be freaking out over the possibility that intelligence resources will be used against them.

It would be glorious.

The WaPo cautiously sticks its toe in the water.

For now they're still trying to hold on to some of the old narrative.

But they're realizing the old narrative is rapidly becoming 'inoperative,' to use a Clintonian term. They're going to have to take the plunge into the truth soon.

I rather doubt the Post has seen the light on this. A more likely explanation is that the Post, and the left in general, believe that an investigation into the unmasking would ultimately damage the Trump Administration. Unfortunately, it is less than certain that this belief is incorrect. Missing from the enthusiasm for this weeks news is a sober assessment of the effectiveness of the focus on unmasking as a political strategy. Make no mistake, this is a political scandal. As such it lacks the bright line of demarcation that exists in legal matters. Therefore, any discussion of the propriety of unmasking is necessarily, and inseparably, an evaluation of the contents of the intelligence. It strains credulity to imagine a scenario in which the mainstream media blithely accepts any Republican description of the intelligence as of little value. Eventually, if they haven’t already, the media/democrats are going to realize the weakness of the White House strategy and call for this intelligence to be released.

It is probable that a significant portion of this intelligence was gathered from calls between two foreign tragets who were discussing members of the Trum team. Which means a goodly bit is simply gossip, no more robust than the chattering around high school hallways. Officially releasing this information under the imprimatur of the White House would inappropriately elevate base gossip. Thus it would be foolish to release. Yet by not releasing you guarantee this issue will fester thereby blunting the force of the main counter thrust to the Russian nonsense.

Most troublesome is the evolution of this story. The fact that Farkas’ statement wasn’t widely picked up until last week is very worrying. She made her comments on national television, these weren’t secret. If this was always the endgame, why didn’t the White House publicize Farkas’ statement immediately? There really isn’t any heartening answer to that question.
