An Indian court declared Himalayan glaciers legal persons under law in a bid to save them from global warming.
The courts two judges claimed Indian law must gives glaciers living entity status to keep them from melting.

The case was filed as public interest litigation by an environmentalist, and was not filed to address any specific harm to any individual.
The court also extended the status of living entity to other natural wonders, including waterfalls, meadows, lakes and forests.

Regressing into Pantheism.
Glaciers are legal persons, huh? With the privilege of person-hood comes responsibility. Can the glaciers be held liable if someone gets squashed in an avalanche, or falls into a crevasse?
Gotta love a culture rooted in pantheism.
That is the most stupidest thing I have heard in a long time.
New Zealand recently did something similar. Gave a river legal personhood.
Remember the days when we actually respected law and lawyers.
Feggedabowdit, buttipipes, the days of low IQ idiots in law are here.
Oh, forgot about all those idiot lawyers who have always infested politics.
Oh well, remember Shakespeare’s comment on lawyers (and yes, we do know that it didn’t mean what it seemed to mean...but now it does in spades.)
Climbing and using an ice ax on an Indian glacier is now attempted murder.
Then fine them for loitering.
The day before Al Gore was born, there were 129,999 glaciers on earth.
The Indian court gets duped by a simile all the while smiling to the bank.
Frankly, I think I'd personally be a lot better off with quite a bit of melting.
Absolutely the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard.
Is this one of those “April Fools” stories?
If Al Gore was never born we would never have a Love Story on the Internet. I guess we could never have the Internet of Things 1.0 and Internet of Things 2.0. /s
This is just the first step.
The next step is to blame Americans for the glaciers demise in the World Court at the Hague.
Stern European judges will see much merit in the case, and charge Americans with crimes against humanity, which we can appease by giving them billions of dollars.
“New Zealand recently did something similar. Gave a river legal personhood.”
NZ did indeed:
New Zealand declares a river a person - The odd legal status is intended to help prevent pollution and other abuses
