Trump administration warns companies on H-1B visas: Hire Americans over foreign guest workers
Washington Times ^

The Justice and Homeland Security departments issued startling warnings Monday to companies applying for the country’s most prominent foreign guest-worker program, telling executives to look for Americans to fill those jobs first and promising more investigations and prosecutions of businesses that abuse the system.

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, which is part of the Homeland Security Department, also released rules on Friday that could curtail the number of computer programmers who get H-1B visas, designated for specialty occupations that American companies have a tough time filling.

Still can't watch the guy give a speech, but he's easily batting above .750 out of what I want out of a President.

designated for specialty occupations that American companies have a tough time filling for the low ball wages that undercut Americans.

Fixed it.

After Clinton, Bush, and Obama, I can watch him for a week.

Even when Bush was on our side with an issue, that marble mouth thing drove me to distraction, and he refused to fight back.

Trump is such a breath of fresh air in his speeches.

Remove the visas, then.

We didn’t have them before, we can do without them again.

We need Congress to do that. The GOP has shown no interest when they could have done it. They can do it now.

Yeah big warning. If you want a warning Mr President just go read the contracts for your wall and see how easy it is to get around hiring Americans in it. It is as easy as filling out a form and giving it to the swamp.

Yeah sure it is easy to tweet away about hiring Americans but when you draw FERAL Government contracts you might want to read how easy you let them hire foreigners before you swing a DEAL.

About time, giving USA jobs to foreigners is clearly wrong to most USAians and should be illegal.

I’ve been waiting two decades for this.

I could probably have built two large houses - or more - with the lost wages from the H1-B effect on the labor market in the IT industry.

Your brother is a greedy criminal. He is a providing a magnet for illegals and central Americanism to flood the USA. I wish all the worst for him. I hope he goes out of bushiness.

He is a magnet. If he paid more he’d get Americans. But we have a fully stocked shelf full of stoop labor from the third world. He wouldn’t hire an American even if they were willing to work for the pittance he offers.

$15.00/hr is not that much in NE. He wants to use imported stoop labor like a true globalist slaver. He pays then 15.00 they live 5 in a room and suck of the taxpayer. Meanwhile he ash a nice house, a boat and buys his wife jewelry ever year at Christmas.

Let me guess, you have no personal experience hiring for low to medium skill manual labor jobs.

I’d be willing to bet you are in IT and have been adversely impacted personally by H1-B visa workers.

I agree that often times it is a ploy by companies to cut costs because they can find foreign workers to do jobs that Americans can and will do but it costs more so they choose not to but that isn’t always the case.

Sometimes it is virtually impossible to find people willing to do LOW SKILL manual labor jobs even at above average compensation. That is a fact I can attest to from personal experience, both myself and my wife experience it almost daily in our professions.

Somehow the USA managed to get lawns cut and dishes washed without importing stoop labor up until the 1990’s.....

Hey I don’t disagree that what you are saying should still be the case but there are an awful lot of younger (18 to 30 year old) people out there that would rather take from the government than “demean” themselves by doing dirty and hard manual labor.

Its sad but it is a reality.
