A coalition of U.S. states has mounted a broad legal challenge against what it called the Trump administration's illegal suspension of rules to improve the energy efficiency of ceiling fans, portable air conditioners and other products.
The challenge, also joined by environmental groups, came after the U.S. Department of Energy last month delayed standards proposed under the Obama administration to reduce air pollution and operating costs associated with the products.
Ten Democratic attorneys general, plus New York City and a Pennsylvania regulator, on Monday notified Energy Secretary Rick Perry of their plan to sue in 60 days for stalling proposed standards for air compressors, commercial boilers, portable air conditioners, power supplies, and walk-in coolers and freezers.
The letter was signed by officials of California, Connecticut, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, Oregon, Vermont, Washington, New York City and the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.
The Consumer Federation of America, the Natural Resources Defense Council and the Sierra Club on Monday sent Perry a similar letter threatening litigation.

All liberal states. What a shock.
Under “states rights” of the 10th Amendment, let them enact their own laws. Oh, right, liberals hate ‘states rights’ because they got in trouble back in 1860 over the issue.
No sweat. President Trump has already figured this out. Watch his moves.
I really hate liberals. Must have gotten their ass kicked a lot when they were kids
After hysterically closing power plants with 30+ years of useful life left, they will now lecture us on energy efficiency?
If these every saving air conditioners were in such demand, there’s nothing stopping the companies from making them.
Future administrations that "don't want" can use the same rule-making to rescind the rules.

I don’t get this.
Apparently these are proposed rules and regulations issued by the Dept of Energy. And these rules are issued by the bureaucracy, not acts of Congress.
If a rule is issued, not due to Congress but as an administrative action, doesn’t it follow that a new president, new administration, new bureaucrats, can rescind these rules??
I just don’t see how in the heck there can be a lawsuit, to attempt to force the Trump administration to implement a plan of the Obama administration, when it appears that the bureaucrats have discretion on issuing these rules and regulations in the first place.
I realize that the liberals may have a liberal view(pardon the pun) of what administration or bureaucratic actions are subject to a lawsuit. But how can you force the Trump administration to do something which the Obama administration planned??? Obama’s gone.
What the heck legal arguments can they make? That the spirit of Obama lives on and must be honored, even though another president was elected????
Mere Mortals like President Trump are not permitted to undo the unilateral dictates of the Obamatollah.
The President should know that.

...
It depends on the situation. They use state’s rights to give sanctuary to illegal aliens.
Can we have our light bulbs back? Please!
The idiots in these states can impose whatever moronic rules THEY choose to enact IN THEIR OWN STATES.
They have no right to tell the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT, i.e. Trump and Congress, what they MUST do.
These idiots have no shame.
All the incandescent bulbs you'll ever need plus lots more, right here.
Frankly, the light bulb issue has been overcome by events, as LED lighting has reached a price point where for most applications it is highly cost-effective.
So we can skip the disastrous “CFL” lights where the law forced a miniaturization that made them unreliable, and we still were stuck with the problem of discarding them since they were “toxic”.
How do they get to sell incandescent bulbs? I thought they were banned several years ago. Or are they selling only available stock manufactured before the ban? I went to their web site and didn’t see any explanation about how they got around the ban.
I bought 12-volt LED lights for my RV as the incandescent bulbs burnt out too quickly or melted the plastic fixture covers. Unfortunately they were unreliable as one or more of the side bank lights would blink and some sides wouldn’t light at all. Had them all replaced by the manufacturer with the same result. I went back to cheap 12-volt bulbs that are thinner and don’t damage the plastic covers. They burn out fast but at least I’m not subject to the blinking.
Solution: get rid of the U.S. Department of Energy... heh heh I am SURE They approved Obamas Solar Energy Debacle,
Don't know, but they do. Maybe there's some little known exemption.
