President Tayyip Erdogan on Monday called on Turkish voters in Europe to defy the "grandchildren of Nazism" and back a referendum this month on changing the constitution, comments likely to cause further ire in Europe.
Erdogan has repeatedly lashed out at European countries, including Germany and the Netherlands, in campaigning for the referendum, accusing them of "Nazi-like" tactics for banning his ministers from speaking to rallies of Turkish voters abroad.

In this, Himmler basically admits he wished the Turks had won the “Battle of Vienna.”
According to Albert Speer, Hitler stated in private, “The Mohammedan religion too would have been much more compatible to us than Christianity. Why did it have to be Christianity with its meekness and flabbiness?”
It seems to me that Hitler did to the German Constitution just what Erdogan is just about to do.
Yes - I would think that for Islamists like Erdogan, the Nazis and their actions were “a good thing” that he celebrates in private.
He knows what words sting the Germans to suicidal self-abasement. But no one should be stung by any slurs coming from a Turk of all people. What kind of guilt has Erdogan ever felt for the historic sins of his people?
None, which ought to tell the Germans something about the relative worth of their culture.
Letting Turkey into NATO was a huge mistake that needs to be remediated.
