The Media has been mostly in charge. It has been a self-reinforcing worldview. Most of the Establishment Media took their cues from the New York Times, AP, The Washington Post, maybe Reuters. They, in turn, idolized vague notions of “social justice” and “equality”.

That destructive ideology is unhinged from reality; it has lead us further and further down the rabbit hole of society destroying policies. The ideology was reinforced and promoted by leftists everywhere; we may never know how much the former Soviet Union devoted resources to promoting “agents of influence” to spread this ideology in the U.S., but it was considerable.

The idea that giving people mony reduces poverty is a very short term view. Only a wealthy society can afford to make these mistakes. Even the Soviet Union required people to work if they were going to eat. They starved millions of people to death.

No one person is in charge. The ideology is like a virus. It infects society and makes it sick. The media should act like an immune system, exposing false ideas and ideology. But this ideology is rather like AIDs, in that it took over the immune system. Kind of like a computer virus taking over the virus protection program.
