Posted on 03/30/2017 8:31:36 PM PDT by Helicondelta
"Unlawful" and "extreme" is how West Michigan Rep. Justin Amash described President Donald Trump's executive order to ban refugees and citizens from seven Muslim-majority countries.
"It's not lawful to ban immigrants on the basis of nationality," Amash said in the statement.
Trump's order blocks citizens from Iran, Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Sudan, Somalia and Libya from entering the country for at least 90 days. It also bans refugees from anywhere in the world for 120 days -- and from Syria indefinitely.
"Ultimately, the executive order appears to be more about politics than safety," Amash said. "If the concern is radicalism and terrorism, then what about Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and others?"
Unlike many Republicans who endorsed Trump when he secured the GOP nomination, Amash never formally gave the candidate his support. He said he would neither vote for Trump nor Hillary Clinton, and would remain critical of Trump's decisions in office.

We know what Amash is and it doesn’t smell very good.
Gonna be picking and choosing rare articles to bash real conservatives? :)
good luck with that.
our president just tweeted out that he will actively work against the people who most hold our views.
That’s just great.
Oldie but goodie...Amash will NEVER agree with Trump on anything...he's a muslim sympathizer.
Islam -> Sharia -> Sedition
You turned quick. You were such a Fan Boy of Trump, now you’re bitching every two seconds about him. The FC are a bunch of frauds, it’s been demonstrated daily in many ways.
From the article:
“Amash, a second generation Arab-American and son of a Syrian immigrant to the United States, released a statement on social media Saturday afternoon. In a Facebook post and series of Tweets, the Republican representative of Cascade Township criticized Trump’s order as an overreach of executive power that undermines the constitution.”
A ask sucks mudslme ash.
I know Amash is an easy target for your jihad against the Freedom Caucus, but they are not all like him.
“work against the people who most hold our views.”
Speak for yourself. Amash called on Trump to withdraw from the presidential race in October, refused to vote for him and is against the immigration ban. If you hold the same views you are not a conservative.
Amash is and always was a phony conservative, neverTrumper POS.
I’m hurt. I thought we were almost lovers :)
I’ve said MANY TIMES i like a LOT of what he’s done
But i’m not gonna be a bitch like some of you and close my eyes like i did with Bush.
What a bunch of whiny bitches.
Can’t stand up for what’s right. Cultists.
He’s done GREAT things, and he’s done a REALLY bad thing tonight.
Wow, that you don’t think it was really bad means you know NOTHING about Ronald Reagan.
Get a book on him.
The poster has a jihad against the Freedom Caucus because they wouldn’t knuckle under for the crap sandwich of Obamacare II.
His buddies wish we had left Eric Cantor in office so that the Uniparty eunuchs could have passed Rubio’s amnesty in June of 2014 to get the issue off the table for Yeb! and there would be no President Trump.
Ryan reacted the same way to the pussy tape, has he apologized yet?
He said he would never defend Trump.
So did Ryan. Both are a$$holes. But one of them is pushing RINOcare.
I sense a little cognitive dissonance here dp.
BS. The poster was pro Trump. Not sure about you.
I don’t see any reason at all to stick up for anyone in the GOP until they first stick up for me at least once.
None of them have ever done a single thing for me, or stood for in any meaningful or actual way or advanced at all anything I believe in.
Show me something, boys.
This is your last chance.
I agree with u and dp0622
