Shutdown? GOP says no as it tries to save Trump priorities

The last thing President Donald Trump needs on his 100th day in office is a government shutdown.

So with four weeks to go, Trump and Republican leaders are trying to salvage priorities like his wall along the Mexico border and immediate increases in defense spending without stumbling into a politically toxic government shutdown in another month.

The temporary government-wide spending bill runs out at midnight April 28, and since Trump needs Democratic help in getting the legislation done, Republicans are already tamping down expectations. Rep. Chris Collins, R-N.Y., a Trump ally, predicted that the legislation would be kept mostly free of controversial add-ons.

“We’re probably going to need bipartisan votes to keep the government open,” Collins said. …

This RINO-overrun government needs a shutdown. A nice long one.

I am sure that if the Dems follow through with their threat of a shutdown, the media will call them out as racist for stealing food from poor black families. s/

>>Let me guess no money for the wall but money for PP and Bert and Ernie<<

Everyone knows how this goes. A shutdown just means a TEMPORARY cut of funds. PP, Bert and Ernie and all federal employees go on paid holiday.

Inevitable a budget is passed, then everyone gets their pay from when the government was “shut down.”

The allocations were already there so for the next year at least not a dime is lost by any entity depending on the feds.

I am sure federal employees are PRAYING (or whatever passes for it) for a shutdown so they get all that paid time off.

The cost of illegals in the US to taxpeyrs is $100 billion a year. Depending on how its built, the cost of the wall could be as much as $26 billion or so. When compared to the costs of 10 years of illegal aliens the cost of the wall is not much more than a rounding error. Any politician who does not support building the wall is a traitor.

Yup. No money for the wall. That will come “next time” according to Lyin’ Ryan.

Just like phases 2 and 3 of ahca will actually repeal obamacare.

Trump and his establishment pubs either think we’re all complete idiots or else the political equivalent of battered spouses.

Just look at his recent tweets, in the past hour, about health care. Now it’s “sure, i declared war on you all this morning. But that was your fault. Hop on the bus now and do what I say and I’ll forgive you for forcing me to hit you.”

Frickin pathetic.

Been telling you guys. Govern or shutup.

The CR expires in 4 weeks. There has to be a new one or your parents don’t get their Soc Sec checks.

What will be in the new one? Obamacare. All of Obamacare. The FC will vote for it or there will have to be Dems.

Then we watch to see if Rand Paul votes for it and Ted Cruz.

Want to try to extract Obamacare from the CR? Go ahead. Got 60 votes?

Oh! Don’t need 60, you think? “Constitutional option?”

Go look in the constitution. Nowhere does it even say a majority vote determines anything in the Senate. If you wackos are extreme enough, you could insist the Constitutional option means 45 votes passes bills, because nowhere in the Constitution does it say a majority is req’d.

“Trump needs Democratic help in getting the legislation done”

LOL!
I, and Trump, would LOVE for the Dems to shut the government down.

But it’s true that we can’t put in too much.

The rodents’ agitprop networks manage to support themselves.
No more public subsidies for their NPR and PBS allies!

“The CR expires in 4 weeks. There has to be a new one or your parents don’t get their Soc Sec checks.”

In the past, “government shutdowns” had little or no impact on things like Social Security, food stamps, Medicare, etc.

Even if there was a disruption, conservatives should not allow liberals to hold them hostage to support funding Planned Parenthood, or anything else immoral. Why would they? Why should they?

It should be fairly easy for Republicans, who have the majority in both chambers, to propose funding for each essential line item without any other contingencies.

Could the lying media spin that? What would happen if Cruz put forward a bill that said these items, i.e. Social Security, food stamps, Medicare, etc., are fully funded, if the Dems say they will block it unless Planned Parenthood is funded? How popular would the Dems be then?

The ONLY thing stopping conservatives from getting their funding priorities, including campaign promises made by Trump and the majority of legislators, is REPUBLICANS.

If the Dems say they won’t allow any budget to pass without Planned Parenthood funding, them let them eat their words.

SHUT. IT. DOWN.

Media spin?

The GOP is the party that hates gov’t involvement in lives. If any party is to be found responsible for shutting a gov’t down, it would obviously be the GOP, because that’s consistent with GOP platforms of less govt blah blah.

The Media doesn’t have to spin that even 1 RPM. It will be self evident to the public, because it always has been. The GOP has never ever ever “won” a gov’t shutdown. There is nothing to be gained by losing it again.

The media always spins whatever happens to try to make conservatives look bad.

If the value of the dollar is stronger, they’ll report that gold is down.

The narcissistic left thinks negotiation and compromise mean they get everything they’re way.

They are the minority party but act like they are calling the shots.

The Republicans need to defund Planned Parenthood in a single-purpose bill. And when Democrats block it, make THEM shut down the government.

Then it is very clear who is doing it and why.

Most Americans do not think we should be giving Planned Parenthood half a billion dollar subsidy every year.
