Big OUCH for nuclear power.....
Not just Toshiba I’m afraid... some U.S. utilities could also suffer: http://oilprice.com/Latest-Energy-News/World-News/What-A-Westinghouse-Bankruptcy-Could-Mean-For-US-Utilities5507.html
They gamble, and lost.....
you can be cure - if it’s westinghouse...remember that one?
They are building power plants overseas profitably. The problem is that it’s prohibitively expensive to build them in the US because the regulatory hurdles are designed primarily to increase the costs.
Toshiba (spit) in the late 1980s it was revealed that Toshiba had been selling advanced ship-propeller milling tools to what was then the Soviet Union. This allowed the Soviet Union to make submarine screws quieter. Since I was serving aboard submarines in the US Navy at the time it could have had very negative impact on my life. I realize that 30 years is a long time to hold a grudge, maybe Ill give it up someday, maybe.
Westinghouse is building reactors for S.C. Electric & Gas and for Southern Company. The ripple office of this bankruptcy will be felt for years and it will be painful.
The last little part of the company still called Westinghouse. Was a great company once, before it was managed down the toilet.
