In Raqqa, Signs of Faltering Islamic State Rule

Hundreds of Islamic State loyalists in recent days have fled the group’s de facto Syrian capital of Raqqa, where emptying streets and a lack of water and electricity point to the extremists’ crumbling control.

Raqqa residents said Islamic State’s feared religious police is gone. Fewer fighters patrol the streets, and there are fewer military checkpoints, they said.

The departures began when Islamic State warned Sunday that the nearby Tabqa Dam would collapse under U.S.-led airstrikes. The warning sparked a chaotic exodus in which militants and residents alike fled for higher ground.

Looks like the ISIS brass has moved to Deir ez Zour, and everyone who can is leaving town - no electricity or water.

Translation: we're planning an atrocity and we'll blame it on the Americans.

We’ve stepped up our troop numbers in Syria and Iraq. We’ve wildly increased our bombings, as Trump promised we would. And we now have ISIS on the run. Yet, those anti-American radicals that dominate our press only want to fixate on Russian conspiracy theories and how “incompetent” President Trump supposedly is. At least the WSJ isn’t ignoring this extraordinary change of events.

“We do not assess the dam to be in imminent danger unless ISIS plans to destroy it,” said Col. Joe Scrocca, United States Army and Director of Public Affairs for Combined Joint Task Force-Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR).

It appears that some control equipment might have been damaged in fighting over the dam, or ISIS guys inside may have flipped some switches - but Raqqa got all its electricity from that dam, and it is now off, causing the water pumps to stop.

ISIS might have wanted to stampede some refugees out of town, so they could hide among them.

Yes. Exactly.

It’s sad that Al Jazeera has more info.

The US press is dysfunctional.

California is such a target-rich environment, but this war is against the haters of religious freedom, and flyover country is thick with them. The B-2’s bombers could easily unload whatever’s left on their racks, and wouldn't have to go out of their way to make a special trip.

ISIS was a creation of Obama. He created and supported it. Now that he’s gone, it shows the first signs of crumbling. And after only a couple months.

This is great!

We have a CIC who wants to win this war! And he’s not afraid of the MSM bellyaching about it.

When Jonestown went down the enforcers didn’t drink the Kool Aid and disappeared too.

Some strongly worded phone calls would dismantle the support for ISIS.
Wikileaks showed both Qatar and Saudi Arabia were funding their Sunni brethren.

Oh yeah, the Saudis came to the White House. I’m sure President Trump delivered the message. Personally.

The “Islamic State” is crumbling as it can’t maintain any government “payroll” for its army in the thousands and thousands.

What a shame.
