The governors of California and New York said Tuesday that they will push ahead with their aggressive climate change policies despite President Donald Trumps executive order that seeks to boost the coal industry.
Democratic Govs. Jerry Brown of California and Andrew Cuomo of New York said in a joint statement that they will help fill the void left by Trumps decision to unravel former President Barack Obamas plan to curb global warming.
With or without Washington, we will work with our partners throughout the world to aggressively fight climate change and protect our future, the governors wrote. [ ]
The governors said the move is profoundly misguided and shockingly ignores basic science.

California is broke.
Way past time for real workers and taxpayers to relocate from these Socialist/Globalist Utopias.
Right Mr. Cuomo....so we’re going to do fracking here in NYS??
Glad Sessions is cutting back on their Justice Department aid. Sounds like they have way too much money.
How about cutting off welfare for their illegal aliens?
Federal aid makes up about a third of the total state budget of New York.
The federal government spends some $367.8 billion a year on California. Thats an average of about $9,500 for every woman, man and child in the state.
By the way, have the really curious reporters gone up to Oroville and checked with the trucking outfits to see if they are being paid in a timely manner?
Just curious.
Remember California is BROKE.
California has it’s problems, but I don’t think it’s on the verge of going belly up, no matter how hard they tried. And from my vantage point, they tried hard.
California is a state that is blessed with massive potential. Just when you think the Leftists have finally gone and done it, the state kicks in despite it’s disgusting leadership.
They are so lucky in that. So are we I guess.
This state could be so much more.
These states cannot influence global warming anymore than the United States could. It’s incredible how state governments are being subverted to waste their citizens’ resources.
Thank God we have Trump.
Some of the schemes I’ve read about to try to stop “global warming” have the potential to do great environmental damage. Unfortunately, the nature of some of these schemes is such that the damage will be substantial before it is even noticed.
Carbon dioxide is a requirement for life and the primary ingredient of biomolecules. Throughout geographic history, the levels of carbon dioxide have dropped; when they drop enough, life on earth will be extinguished. But before life is completely wiped out, there will be a decline of biomass with gradual desertification as the total number of plants and animals drop. Scientists have estimated that life will survive another 100 million to billion years because of the slow sequestration of carbon dioxide into forms unusable by plants. These “global warming” fanatics would hasten that demise of life.
Fine. They can do what they want at their own expense.
(Don’t anybody tell them that they are exercising “States’ Rights”, the Founders’ preferred implementation of governmental power.)
Does California face big problems. Yes it does. It has a lot of debt. It also has a pension problem that is growing to be a big threat.
California needs to face these problems, but the state's Leftist papers would rather focus on keeping the Leftists in control, than try to get them to work on making the state safe from insolvency for the sake of it's citizens.
Of course those citizens have been the least important of it's residents for decades.
California needs to be invaded , like our beloved South was, and occupied. We need to carpetbag conservatives to totally dominate the state government and return the people to FREEDOM!!
Especially without Jerry Brown and his claque of graying Hippies who dominate our political class, and the multitude of illegals who vote to help keep the cheap labor/welfare state giveaway cornucopia in business.
Actually, they’d be violating the Guarantee Clause of Article 4 Section 4, where the state leaders are replacing a republican form of government with a socialistic form (per this clause, the federal government has to guarantee the form of government stipulated therein). So the Tenth Amendment does not apply here, since this is not a power reserved to the states or to the people.
“This state could be so much more.”

I lived there many years ago when California WAS so much more. I sure miss the way it was back then.
I like the way you think, Wendle.
California and NY will be REALLY broke once they lose federal funding to their sanctuary cities.
